My Initial thoughts were...the couple did two things..they cooked and they chatted. So option B was looking correct to me.
But
The essence of the sentence is "The couple did the cooking while chatting in a mix of German and Danish?"...or they were talking in a mix of German and Danish when they were cooking the meal. Here, "chatting in a mix of German and Danish" is the additional information.
Doer of 'Cooking' and 'Chatting' were same. i.e. 'The pair'.
'Chatting in German and Danish' is modifying 'Typical Cooking'! Hence A is correct.
