We are trying to say that because other drugs are covered in the health class , alcohol should also be discussed.

We are discussing about action of 'discussion' and not comparing nouns- 'alcohol' and 'other drugs'

To compare actions, we use 'as' and not 'like'

Only option A uses it correctly.

you are spot on correct. I wasn't able to make out what was actually compared in the first go.

I miss out on comparison questions where the actions are compared. Any tips to get those questions correct?

Thanks in advance :)

Does "might" conflict with "actually"?

Also in B "like alcohol, which is...." we need an essential modifier [we need to convey the message that alcohol is discussed/covered blah blah] whereas "which" is a non-essential one giving you an extra nugget of fact about alcohol.

In answer B which is discussed ...is non essential modifier . Can it be read Like X, Y should also be covered to prevent students from falling prey to addiction.

why B is wrong

I do not see a solid reason for eliminating B.

I think the proper idiom is "just as x, y." You're right, B looks grammatically correct for all intents and purposes, but A flows better. Adding "which..." seems unnecessary.

One could argue that in the question below , we are trying to say that Huge Solar panels are part of spacecrafts just as large sails are part of sea vessel .
We are not comparing Solar panels to huge sails rather we are comparing the FACT that Solar panels are part of spacecrafts just as huge sails are part of sea vessels.

So in the question below can you please explain why the answer is what it is ?

Huge solar panels often constitute the most conspicuous component of a spacecraft, as large sails billowing on a 19th-century sea vessel.

a) as large sails billowing on a 19th-century sea vessel
b) as large sails that billowed on a 19th-century sea vessel
c) as did large sails billowing on a 19th-century sea vessel
d) like large sails billowing on a 19th-century sea vessel
e) like large sails did that billowed on a 19th-century sea vessel

(A) just as alcohol is discussed in health class to protect those who might actually abuse it

(B) like alcohol, which is discussed in health class to protect those who might abuse it

I have difficulty in eliminating B, while eliminated choice A because of the Idiom "Just as X, so Y". Can someone please help to eliminate B ?

Agreed. I have the same problem. As far as I learn, structure is "just as X, so Y." So I eliminate A.
