The table above shows present rates and proposed rates for electricity for residential customers. For which of the monthly kilowatt-hours shown would the proposed rate be the greatest percent increase over the present rate?

(A) 500
(B) 1,000
(C) 1,500
(D) 2,000
(E) Each of the percent increases is the same.

[/textarea]

Some calculation ahead, still For the ease of calculation lets remove 100 from KW units value, this helped a lot

(Proposed Price - Initial Price)/ Initial Price * 100

Proposed price = units * cost

Only for B you will get maximum value of 9

for A [130-120/120] * 100 = 8%

for B 450-410 / 410 * 100 = 9%

We have changes,
2/24, 4/41, 5/57, 6/73

2/24 vs 6/73=> 6/72 vs 6/73
So 2/24 greater

2/24 vs 4/41 => 4/48 vs 4/41
4/41 greater

4/41 vs 5/57 => 40/41 vs 50/57
So 4/41 greater.

So B
