Official Explanation

Sorting the table by the "Rating" column, we see that there is one builder (Bildrite) with no project among the five highest-rated projects. But all four sections of the city are represented among these five projects, so all four sections would be featured in a program that included those five projects.

The correct answer is No.

Sorting the table by the "Price" column, we see that the two least expensive projects were both done by Bildrite in the SW section, whereas the two most expensive were both done by Pitts in the NE section. So selecting the top two and bottom two projects by price would include exactly two builders and two city sections. Since the whole table includes exactly four builders and four city sections, this selection leaves out exactly half the builders and half the city sections.

The correct answer is Yes.

Sorting the table by the "Size (square ft)" column, we see that exactly one builder (Bildrite) had no project among the top three or bottom three by square footage.

The correct answer is Yes.

They are counted as one question, and test taker has to answer all three parts correctly.

There are 4 builder: P, A, D, B
There are 4 city sections SW, NE, SE, NW

1. If the 5 with the highest ratings are selected, then one builder and one city section will not be featured in the program. => No

Sort by rating
  • Builder: Missing B
  • City section: We have all 4
2. Selecting the top 2 and bottom 2 by price leaves out exactly half of the city sections and half of the builders. => Yes

Top 2: P, NE
Bottom 2: B, SW

3. Selecting the top 3 and bottom 3 by square footage leaves out exactly one of the builders entirely. => Yes

Top 3: P A D
Bottom 3: P, A

=> Leave out only B

The answer is no because we are missing a builder and the statement asks if we are missing a builder and a city section.

120G is built in SW section. How can we say it is no for option 2? Middle 8 contain SW,NW and SE

Your doubt is not clear.

What statement 2 means:
It checks what happens if we choose the top 2 by price and the bottom 2 by price. Only those 4 matter.

What we actually select:
Top 2 prices: Pitts NE and Pitts NE
Bottom 2 prices: Bildrite SW and Bildrite SW
So the selected set contains only Pitts and Bildrite, and only NE and SW.

Why the answer is yes:
The selected 4 exclude Accurate and Dexter, and they exclude NW and SE.
That is exactly half of the builders and half of the city sections.
