For 10 guests the total expense was estimated to be $650. What is the estimated total expense for 20 guests?

Let variable expense depending on the number of guests attending the party be  = x

For  10  guests the total expense was estimated = Fixed expense + variable expense of  10  guests  = 250 + x

For  10  guests the total expense was estimated to be  = $650

250 + x = 650

x = 650 - 250 = 400

For  10  guests variable expense is  $400 . Therefore for  20  guests variable expense will be twice  = $800

Estimated total expense for  20  guests  = 250 + 800 = $1050
