There are 86 students in a school and each student studies at least one of the three subjects. 44 study history, 52 study philosophy, and 38 study economics. If 12 students study all 3 subjects, how many study exactly two?

A. 12
B. 24
C. 36
D. 38
E. 42

Let, people who study exactly two courses are a+b+c

44+52+38 - (a+b+c) - 2*12 = 86

i.e. a+b+c = 24

Answer: Option B

use venn diagram took little over 2 min,, but correct option is B. 24
134-48-(2*12)= 24 ans

(44-12)+(52-12)+(38-12) = 74 + (number of students took exactly 2 subjects)
98 = 74 + x
x = 24
