In a small town, 16 people own Fords and 11 people own Toyotas. If exactly 15 people own only one of the two types of cars, how many people can own both types of cars?

A. 2
B. 6
C. 7
D. 12
E. 14

Think about it logically:
16 people own Fords and 11 own Toyotas. So maximum 11 people can own both which means at least 5 people will own only one car (only Ford). If you want 15 people to own only one car, you need to remove 10 people from the overlap of 11. For every one overlap, there are 2 people so if you remove 5 overlaps, you get 10 people who should own a single car. You are left with 6 overlaps.
