This summer, Jennifer, who has worked at KVZ Manufacturing for just over three years, plans to spend with her family the entire four weeks of paid vacation to which she is entitled this year. Anyone who has worked at KVZ Manufacturing for between one and four years is automatically entitled to exactly three weeks paid vacation each year but can apply up to half of any vacation time that remains unused at the end of one year to the next year’s vacation.

If the statements above are all true, which one of the following must also be true on the basis of them?

An important assumption is that Jennifer is in her fourth year, thus just over three years.

(A) Jennifer did not use two weeks of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled past year.
This has to be true
(B) If Jennifer continues to work for KVZ Manufacturing, she will only be entitled to three weeks paid vacation next year.
If she did not use her paid vacations from the previous years she would have 1.625 weeks left from the first (3*0.5*0.5*0.5), second (3*0.5*0.5) and third year (3*0.5). Even if she uses 1 week she still has 3.3125 weeks paid vacation next year.
(C) The majority of KVZ’s employees use each year all of the paid vacation time to which they are entitled.
Well maybe but the does not have to be true based on what we know.
(D) Last year Jennifer took only one week of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled.
This doesn't have to be true. She also could have taken 1 week two years ago, which would have been 1 week paid holidays last year and took of 2 weeks so that she had 2 weeks left, which gives 1 additional week in this year.
(E) KVZ Manufacturing sometimes allows extra vacation time to employees who need to spend more time with their families.
Maybe but this does not have to be true.

Understanding the argument -
This summer, Jennifer, who has worked at KVZ Manufacturing for just over three years, plans to spend with her family the entire four weeks of paid vacation to which she is entitled this year. - Background info. 4 weeks she'll spend.

Anyone who has worked at KVZ Manufacturing for between one and four years is automatically entitled to exactly three weeks paid vacation each year but can apply up to half of any vacation time that remains unused at the end of one year to the next year’s vacation. - So in the 4th year, how come she did for 4 weeks when she only gets 3 weeks? Because she carried forward from year 3. How much she can carry forward? up to 1.5 weeks. This means she actually did not use the remaining 2 weeks as the 3rd week she is using in the 4th year.

If the statements above are all true, which one of the following must also be true on the basis of them?

Option Eliminaiton - Inference

(A) Jennifer did not use two weeks of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled past year. - ok based on the above logic.

(B) If Jennifer continues to work for KVZ Manufacturing, she will only be entitled to three weeks of paid vacation next year. - We don't know anything beyond 4 years. Out of scope.

(C) The majority of KVZ’s employees use each year all of the paid vacation time to which they are entitled. - We don't know. It might be a true category that is wrong, as we can't verify with 100% certainty.

(D) Last year Jennifer took only one week of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled. - We can't say this with certainty. There can be 3 scenarios
1. She takes 1 week and carries forward one week
2. She doesn't take any week and carries forward 1.5 weeks.
3. Maybe she had 1.5 from the 2nd year, and she took 1.5 weeks of vacation.

So we can't say with 100% certainty that she only took 1 week of paid vacation. It might be a true category that is wrong, as we can't verify with 100% certainty.

(E) KVZ Manufacturing sometimes allows extra vacation time to employees who need to spend more time with their families. - out of scope.

Hi Experts
I think there is an issue with the official Answer. The correct answer should be B instead of A. Here's my logic:

This is a MUST BE TRUE question.
The argument states that, Jennifer is eligible to take 3 weeks of leave every year. She can carry forward UPTO 2 weeks of leave that she has unused of the previous year.

Now option A states that> Jennifer did not use 2 weeks of vacation time to which she was entitled last year.
According to me, this statement is NOT NECESSARY to be true. It may be possible she did not use 1.5 weeks of her vacation time from previous year and using 1 week of those 1.5 carry forward leaves this year.

As for Option B> If Jennifer keeps on working for the KVZ, she will be entitled to 3 weeks of paid vacation next year. Based on the argument, she has used 3 weeks of her leaves of the current year and also additional carry forward leaves from the previous year. On this basis, next year she will have just 3 weeks of leaves (without any carry forward leaves from the current year).

Please let me know if I am right or wrong going with this logic?
