Hi
Please post 1 question per forum.
The answers are like this :
1) Find the time taken by a train 120 meter long, running at 54 km/hr, in crossing an electric pole.
54km/hr = 54 * 1000/60*60 = 54 * 5/18 = 15m/s
120/15 = 8 sec.
Also, the answer to this should be time taken, and not the speed as posted.
2) A train 160 m long is running at 40 km/hr. In how much time will it pass a platform 140 m long?
40 km/hr = 40 * 5/18 = 200/18
Time = (160 + 140)/200/18 = 300/200 * 18 = 27 sec
3) A train passes a standing man in 2 seconds and a platform 50 m long in 4 seconds. Find the length of the train and its speed.
L/s = 2 and L+50/s = 4.5
So 50/S = 2.5 and S = 20 m/s = 72km/hr and L = 40 M
4) A train 125 m long is running at 50 km/hr. In what time will it pass a man, running at 5 km/hr in the same direction in which the train is going?
Relative speed = 50 - 5
125/(45 * 5/18) = (18 * 125)/(45 * 5) = 2250/225 = 10 sec
5) A train 110 m long is running at 60 km/hr. In what time will it pass a man, running in the direction opposite to that of the train at 6 km/hr?
Relative speed = 60 + 6
110/(66 * 5/18) = (18 * 110)/(66 * 5) = 18 * 10/6 * 5 = 3 * 2 = 6
