I have a total of 6 different comprehensive study books, this doesn't include books for the individual sections, and I found Cracking the GMAT the simplest to understand. It got right to the point and not only did they explain how to answer the question correctly they really put you in the mind set of taking the test. I found the Kaplan had a few more unique and smart strategies but Cracking was the only one that really broke down not only how to take the test but how to think about the test. I think while it is not the only book to have it is a must have.

bb

i was wondering...
how important is the Kaplan GMAT 2010 Premier Live Online???

I will definately buy the OG...

Also nink posted a list of books for different subjects

Quote:
Verbal:
1) Do diagnostic testing on GMATPRep to get sense of your strength & weaknesses.
2) Sentence Correction - Manhattan GMAT SC is a MUST
3) Critical Reasoning - either Powerscore Critical Reasoning Bible or Manhattan GMAT CR Book (either one is fine)
4) Reading Comprehension - GRE Prep for RC from Princeton Review is a great choice
5) Then do this last - Official Guide for Verbal

Math:
1) same as Verbal (1)
2) Buy all or some of MGMAT's MATH guides based on your strength and weaknesses for fundamental review

A. Number Properties Guide

B. Equations Inequalities and Vics Guide

C. Fractions, Decimals, and Percents Guide

D. Word Translations Guide

E. Geometry GMAT Guide

What is your opinion on each of these books?

It is not required by no means - I just tend to send people there to get their bearings and pick up free tests.
About these books - Nink got 770 - do I really need to comment?

Great piece of information.

Although I persnoally feel looking at the list, there is a lot of overlap of techniques once you've done 2 or 3 books of different publishers.

At the end of the day, my advice is pick 3 and finish them thoroughly. Take a practice test at the end of each so that you can assess where you stand. Once finished all, and still you're not improving, then surely you can browse through other books. At the end of the day its practice that counts, and the test tips/strategies/tips can only do just a bump in your score.

it depends on your weaknesses - if you wanted to cover A to Z, then yes, 8 Manhattan Guides and OG is the right way to go.
There are actually all 8 of them bundled up here to save $$$: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/098417 ... 098417804X

Thanks again for the rpy.I havn't tested my strengths and weakness yet, but would really appreciate if you could suggest any additional books which concentrate on geometry (i think the last time i studied it was during my 10th grade Q_Q)

P.S: i removed ur link for amazon as i dont have the privilege to post links :P

There is MGMAT Geometry for one. Kaplan Math Workbook also has an extensive coverage. THere are a few others, but I can't remember the exact names right now.

Kaplan does not nearly go into the depth of MGMAT.
Kaplan has 3 books -Kaplan Premier, Kaplan Math Workbook, and Kaplan Verbal Workbook + Kaplan Math Foundations and Kaplan Verbal Foundations
MGMAT has 8 guides + MGMAT Math Foundations; MGMAT also relies on the OG for additional practice (which is nice to tie it in). You will get more practice and more online content with MGMAT as well.
