welcome Pixie - see you have registered a long time ago.

These are two completely different books. I believe there is no overlap between the two. Please read my reviews on Amazon.com about each:

Kaplan Premier

Kaplan Advanced

Thanks! Just read the reviews. So basically the Kaplan Advanced is, as the name suggests, more advanced? Is Kaplan 800 off the market?

Most Popular GMAT Books January 2010 List
I am highlighting books that lost positions in red and books that gained positions in green.
Good Luck on the GMAT. Hope this helps. For other book threads see this link: top-gmat-prep-books-guides-reviews-comments-77703.html

The most interesting changes this month are:
  • Bundle of 8 Manhattan GMAT Guides is at 5th position!
  • Kaplan Verbal Workbook gained 10 positions (though after sliding 7 last month) so net gain is 3
  • The biggest loser is MGMAT Geometry Guide moving down 5 slots but again, that's after moving up 4 last month

Other than that, just minor movements among the usual suspects.

Hi! I want to buy the 8 Manhattan Review Guides, however i heard that the 4.edition was based on OG12 and OG Verbal and OG Quant 1. edition (written on the Beat the Gmat site). Since i already have the OG V&Q 2. edition, do you think that i shouldn't buy them? Will i still be able to use them completely? What would you suggest?

Thanks for the answer in advance & btw this is a great forum, very useful :)

You can find a conversion table on Manhattan GMAT's website that helps you to use 4th edition with OG Quant 2 and OG Verbal 2.
So, you won't have any issues.

Link: https://www.manhattangmat.com/ogs2-quant.cfm
Look for conversion tables below (in each of the sections).

Thanks for the booklist. I started off using the Official Guide as everyone suggests. I guess it's a good introduction to the test, but as it clearly lacks any strategies one must complete it with one or more books. I'll tell you what I think after I finish the OG... see you in a few weeks time

Hello, I have a personalized question I was wondering if you can help me with:

I'm trying to figure out which books/packages would be best for me considering I'm not looking for an extremely high score (so don't need those advanced books/questions), and I have to work within these time contraints (so cannot go thru a ton of material)

-Essentially only looking for 580-600 score
-Study needs to be done in close to a 4 week period (not working at that time)
-Been out of University (B.Comm) for 2 years (taking GMAT in Canada)
-I dont anticipate I'm close to a "1 week and 700" club member

What would you recommend ?

1) The Official Guide for GMAT Review 12th Edition
2) .... (not sure)
3) .... (not sure)

OT Question - Does the GMAT fee of around $250.00 include any books? Or all materials (books) are purchased afterwards (extra).

Thanks!

Hi,

Please go through this post:
gmat-faq-frequently-asked-questions-about-gmat-75809.html

You should find a lot of answers in that thread.
No, the $250 fee covers only your taking the GMAT and sending the score reports to 5 schools afterwards.

This thread should give you some ideas on the prep strategy:
gmat-study-plan-for-gmat-novices-start-your-gmat-journey-80727.html

Your study plan will depend greatly on your current standing
