The increasing scarcity of available rental housing, particularly apartments with two or more bedrooms, is attributable to two recent trends: the increasing number of new office buildings as compared to new apartment buildings and the increasing number of apartments being sold as condominiums rather than rented.
The passage above best supports which of the following conclusions?
(A) The rate at which new apartment buildings are being built is decreasing.
(B) The current demand for reasonably priced rental housing is greater than the current supply.
(C) Most apartments being sold as condominiums have at least two bedrooms.
(D) More new office buildings than rental apartment buildings are currently being built.
(E) The current demand for offices is greater than the current demand for rental apartments.

The passage above best supports which of the following conclusions?
Confused b/w B & E, but here is my explanation.
(A) The rate at which new apartment buildings are being built is decreasing. - Incorrect, as this is true, but not the conclusion we can infer from the argument.
(B) The current demand for reasonably priced rental housing is greater than the current supply. - Correct, scarcity of rental apartments => there is demand which is not being met.
(C) Most apartments being sold as condominiums have at least two bedrooms. - Incorrect, as it can serve as a premise but not a conclusion.
(D) More new office buildings than rental apartment buildings are currently being built. - Incorrect, as its already mentioned in the argument.
(E) The current demand for offices is greater than the current demand for rental apartments. - Incorrect, as it could be a secondary conclusion, after B, since we are more concerned as to what scarcity is causing.

(A) The rate at which new apartment buildings are being built is decreasing. Can not be concluded as their is no mention of rates (B) The current demand for reasonably priced rental housing is greater than the current supply. tempting but can not be the answer as there might be scarcity but there is no mention of price in the argument (C) Most apartments being sold as condominiums have at least two bedrooms. Does not make any sense (D) More new office buildings than rental apartment buildings are currently being built. absolutely can not be concluded (E) The current demand for offices is greater than the current demand for rental apartments. This can 100% be concluded as there is an increase in the number of office spaces which is due to increased demand
(A) The rate at which new apartment buildings are being built is decreasing. - From the passage, we know that there is ''increasing scarcity'' of rental units. We do know whether the rate at which new apartment buildings are being built is decreasing
(B) The current demand for reasonably priced rental housing is greater than the current supply. - the phrase ''increasing scarcity'' implies that the current situation (the availability of rental units) is already scarce and this 'scarcity' is increasing as time goes by. Hence, we can reasonably draw (B) as the conclusion. Therefore, (B) is the right answer choice. (C) Most apartments being sold as condominiums have at least two bedrooms. - the passage does not provide information that would support (C). (D) More new office buildings than rental apartment buildings are currently being built. - the passage does not provide information that would support this. (E) The current demand for offices is greater than the current demand for rental apartments. - the passage does not provide information to support (E)

I have just attempted this question, Options A, C and D all are talking about the fractional part of the argument and were quickly out of the race. Options B and E were the suspects. I selected E as my answer as E is better than B according to the scenario BUT we cannot reject B here. So basically the reasoning used in the answer options is totally flawed and no option could be the answer here. This is a poor quality question and i have added two tags 1) Debatable OA and 2) Poor quality. The question could be of a good quality if its answer options get replaced by good ones.

Thanks Sajjad. Why was this question even put up in that case. Am I missing something here?
Also, please check out my answer explaination and let me know does that make sense?
Option E as OA doesnt look correct. In the argument, There is no detail about total demand of office and total demand of rental apartment. So any conclusion comparing them doesn't have any supporting premise.
