I am from Armenia, post soviet small country underrepresented in all top MBA programmes in US.
Age: 28
Experience1 (past): 5 years - worked in big4 accounting firms in three neighboring countries (Russian, Azerbaidjan,Georgia -country), so I have exposure to international experience. - Line of services: Assurance (Audit) and Financial Advisory Services. Industires: wide range of industries: from commercial banks to airline companies and non-profit organisations.
Experience (current): 1 year - Assistant professor at Alma Mater. I swithced my career to make an impact on growing young people who can change the future of my country.
Post MBA- goals: work for a MC firm (McK, Bain, etc) or leading regional private equity. Than leave it to start up a PE shop in my country .
Extracuriccular activities: active member of leading political party. In addition other community service.
Leadership: strong.
GPA: 91% from top local university
GMAT: 640 (should I retake the GMAT? or my GPA may compensate for low GMAT score?)

Even adding in the fact that you're from Armenia, your goal of working with a major consulting firm is not feasible. They look for a 700 GMAT score minimum. Retaking the GMAT and raising your score would be necessary to achieve this goal.
Retaking the GMAT would also improve your competitive position at your target schools. Your experience at an accounting firm and your international exposure are positives. A challenge you will face is explaining your career changes and how your previous experiences will help you with your goal of establishing a PE firm.
