and another week of compulsive mobile/forum/email checking starts...

How this application process has changed your life?
Personally, I am now eating/sleeping/going to the bathroom with my mobile. My heart stops every time I get an email (could be bad news) or a phone call (could be good news)... Please call me!!!

Completely agree with you. Also, funny how what we are looking for has changed through this process.
After clicking submit, you spend your time waiting for the good news interview-invite email, praying to get an email from CBS
After the interview, you spend your time waiting for a phone call, praying you DON'T get an email from CBS.

I think the only non-stressful time I had was that week between scheduling my interview, and finally getting the interview done.

Fully agree! It was the week of the everything is possible, ego up to the roof, I had been CHOSEN to interview...
Not feeling so confident right now...

I agree. It's very stressing to be waiting for a call!

I wonder why it takes so much to the AdCom since now they should have only a small handful of ED applicants still "alive"...

It seems that during last days they are making just deferrals to RD and denials, not acceptances.

@Mauro: when did they tell you that you would be waitlisted? Did you receive an email or a call? Thank you!

I received an email at the end of last week.

Question to waitlisted applicants: if you get accepted somewhere else and have to pay a commitment fee to retain your place, and if later on you're accepted at CBS by Feb 1 but no longer wish to join, do you still have to pay the $6,000?

No, you only have to pay the $6,000 to CBS if you accept their offer.

You'll have 2 weeks from the offer to accept and make the payment.

#MDF: what about the "I am committed to attending Columbia Business School and will withdraw all applications and decline all offers from other schools upon admission to Columbia Business School"?

That applies only if they admit you.

#happyface: agreed, but there is a difference between admitting you in Feb or earlier in Dec (in line with deadline of other apps) because while Columbia could remain your 1st choice, you cannot give up another offer just because you've been waitlisted, and if you don't, it's unethical for Columbia to assume that the statement of commitment remains intact (assuming you receive acceptance by Feb)

Matt Moll from CBS Admissions answered this in the Ask Columbia Admissions thread:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-columbia-gsb-admissions-121805-40.html

In short, you're correct, a deferred applicant is no longer bound to the ED requirements

When you're waitlisted, you're status is deferred to RD from ED. So that statement about committment to CBS doesn't apply I think.
