Question for the deferred ED candidates...did most of you submit on / close to the Oct 5th deadline?
I'm wondering if there's a correlation here. Do you think deferrals are made because the adcom has to start assessing the accumulating RD candidates or if its because they want to benchmark ED against RD candidates?
I don't think it has anything to do with the timing of submission. They probably want to see the yield from ED admits (ideally 100% but not necessarily) and compare the deferred applicants to RD pool. My take on this is deferred applicants are good overall but there must be something in their application or background that the adcom is not completely convinced or satisfied about. i.e. gmat or gpa below average, mediocre performance at work, etc.
I think they probably screen for GMAT, GPA, etc. prior to the interview. So let's just hope for those of us waiting that it's more about assembling the right 'composition' for the Class of 2014 =)
Happyface, are you going to the Women Connect event this weekend?
