dang... guys...
I received an email yesterday from Adcom and they wanted to ask me something about my candidacy..
I so much expected it to be the call!!!
So I called them, right? and they asked if I was interested in their EMBA program...

I was so ready to answer all kinds of follow up questions except that one...
I was like... urgh... then I asked if they thought I was a little too old to join your full time MBA program!
They said no, they just thought that I had a terrific work experience and that I would make more contributions if I joined the EMBA.. I said I would like to join the full time MBA program and they said okay, they would consider me as a full time MBA candidate and continue reviewing my application...!!!

First, I hate it that I have to wait another days or weeks for the final decision!
Second, I was kinda taken aback by the unexpected suggestion so I kinda stammered.. I was like 'okay so call me back soon!' at the end of our conversation... duh!

What do you guys think!! :( :( :(

I can only imagine how you must feel. But you haven't received any official ding, right? Keep faith, maybe you were a more obvious profile for the EMBA program. Doesn't mean you are out. Maybe you could prepare a quick mail stating precisely why you beleive the full time program makes more sens for you. Just a thought... It's OK that you were not prepared to answer that question. I'm sure you can reajust this with a short, concise, email.

@ taffy97: I woudn't worry so much. I would interpret that they like me enough to invite me to attend an EMBA program. That's more than what you knew before the call! I think if they were going to ding you, they would have told you: "this is all what we can offer you at this moment".

By the way, how old are you? Would you mind to share your profile?

For me, interview process complete and awaiting decision.

I was wondering if the accepted rate among interviewed ED applicants was higher than the overall's (around 50%). My premise is that they shouldn't worry about our willingness to attend CBS, and that point leaves out many applicants in other schools after interview, don't you agree?

Anybody knows?

I'm assuming you currently work in one of the cities where Columbia offers EMBA?

lol... that makes you too old for the full time mba, then nobody above 30 would be applying for a fulltime program.. :D

if you don't make it to your dream program this year, do give some consideration to programs at IMD and INSEAD where they don't seem to have as much age bias..

PS: should have added that if things fall into place, i 'll be 33 when matriculating..

As far as I know, they don't have any EMBA in Seoul. So... do they want you to leave your current location and going to Hong Kong (for example) for pursuing this EMBA?

This makes no sense for me! Did I understand well?

yeah sounds like an idea! I should seriously consider writing that to them :)
Anyways.. I hope you guys don't get the wrong idea that CBS wants only youngER applicants...
They didn't sound like it at all.. I was just so taken aback and I came up with a wrong question that's all.. (or so I hope)
anyways.. you guys help me laugh and stay on the positive side.
I wish you all the best luck!! and I'll be looking forward to seeing you all in the orientation haha

@Taffy - Definitely write them an email, concise but cut to the point. Explain to them that you did some research on their EMBA program after you rec'd the call and by further evaluating the two options, you still strongly believe that the FT MBA is a better fit for you and you can make just as much contribution to ur FT MBA class as you could bring to the EMBA class.

Don't worry too much about it. If you like a few pages back, someone had the same issue. He/She said "No" to EMBA and was then accepted to full-time program about a week after.

Keep the faith. We all have to.

Yeah.. thank you all for giving me hopes.. which I seriously need at the moment :)
Now this is a new homework for me, I guess.
How can I make myself sound like I'm better qualified for the fulltime MBA than EMBA without sounding like I lack experiences as a manager or an EXECUTIVE? haha

i still dont know whether to apply to CBS, due to the "no loan for int'l" i dont have enough funding.

Any international here got some sort of merit/need based scholarship. I would be like 60k short not considering the internship money, so really like 40k.

Are you sure that isn't just no "government student loans?" You could probably qualify for private loans but it would make sense that if you're not a US citizen you wouldn't qualify for US subsidized loans.
