Can anyone else remember when you sign the final time (the pledge), did we have to enter the date or the date was there? Thanks...

I believe the date was already filled in when I got to that page.

Even if you put in the wrong date accidentally, I am sure that it would not somehow put your application in an old "pile" of applications in the system and get lost. Does your status show as "submitted" and have the date and time you submitted it?

Thank you, thats a relief to hear... I was only a few minutes before the deadline so I rushed through everything, only to blame myself later wondering that I might have put the wrong date on

Yes everything else is ok, they sent me a confirmation email and my status is submitted (with the correct time stamp)... Thanks again :) U've lighten me up

The application process is so stressful. I don't know about everyone else but for me, I was re-reading my application like a thousand times to make sure I didnt make a typo or a mistake anywhere... But Im sure I still left something... Man I hope they do understand we are just humans and not dinging us for some small errors :(

Jessica

I know what you are talking about. I checked my application a floppity gillion times and still a grammatical error escaped me.

I think an MBA application just has so many components that an error or two is bound to be uncaught. Honestly, I don't think an error or two matters. Think about the adcom who reads 10s of application an hour. I think they read your app to get an idea of your story. I don't think they are obsessed with a minor error or two.

But then again, I could be wrong.

Jessica

I'm not sure if humans get into Harvard...

Okey, i found my errors :( Its weird I always find errors only after submission :-S

Not typo or grammar mistake, but CAPITALIZATION inconsistency. Some I wrote "Founder and Manager" or "Junior Trader" and some others I wrote "Junior analyst"

What do u guys think of the damage level? Am I out? :(

Highly doubtful. And even if you were....would you really want to go to a school that dinged people based on a single incorrect capitalization?

Did you guys notice this and follow:

"Current Employment Date – Use “current date,” i.e. 12/22/11, to alert Board of present employment or ongoing activities.."

I didn't see this until now, and I left my current employment "To" date blank.
Im not gonna fret this time though :(

The best advice I have is to stop looking at your application for now. It's done and there's really not much you can do, regardless. I would be a hypocrite if I said I didn't stress after the fact either. I'd say to pace yourself...unfortunately, the road will get even more stressful as you play the waiting game so try to focus on something else (for now)! For what it's worth, I definitely found a few typos/errors after the fact. The adcoms at HBS (and elsewhere) understand there's a factor of human error.

Hi iwantanmba
I saw that before submitting on Monday, called admissions and asked what they preferred.
The lady said "leave it blank". So you did right, don't worry anymore about this.

And people, come on, stop being mad for this stuff - GMAT, GPA, work, essays, Recos... vs. micro issues like this one?
think you're focusing on the wrong decision making stuff - although I read an Insead adcom saying that misspelling errors are a no-no cause... :(

good luck to everyone trying to not freak out in the Looooooonnnnnggg coming weeks

I think the best way to eliminate this kind of errors is to ask someone else to go through your application.

I read through my resume several times and thought everything must be good. Then an HBS student told me ADITIONAL should be spelled with DD.

Haha you've lighten me up only to bring me downnnn :(
I did not make any Typo or Misspelling or Punctuation, only Capitalization inconsistency. Do you think this is less serious? For many job titles I wrote like "Project manager" while others I wrote "Event Organizer"... Its annoying cuz for all other schools I did them right, and for HBS - the one I care the most abt - I didn't

Why didn't you use a spell checker?! Its one thing to type reminder instead of remainder, how instead of who etc. (which can be quite embarrassing anyway) but not using a spell checker is like shooting yourself in the foot.

Anyway, I wouldn't think a typo would destroy your chances. If the essays are strong and well written I am sure they can forgive a typo. On the other hand, if they start reading and they don't like what they are reading, a typo would piss them off even further and say OK this guy is sooo dinged.

Seriously, stop worrying about it. It's over with and done now. If the rest of your application is solid, they're not going to care about a single uncapitalized title.

Do spell checkers check words in capital letters? I had ADITIONAL INFORMATION in my resume.

You're right, Word doesn't seem to check capital letters. Good to know to be extra careful with those!

HBS accepts 100-125 2+2 students every year which I guess means that after two years 100-125 seats out of the 900 will go to the 2+2 students. Are there 775-800 seats actually left for non 2+2 students?

That would probably be a fair assumption. There likely will also be a handful of deferrals taking a few seats as well. Either way, there are still quite a few seats up for grabs.
