Waitlist.. :|

Well guess us WL'ers are in good company if our threadmaster is also in the same boat. In any case, since Booth accepts 60+% of students in Rd2 and Rd3, there is still hope. Unfortunately, 70% of applicants are also from those rounds.

For those others that were accepted, how do you know about scholarships? Was that info volunteered on the call or did you ask? Was it in your official letter? I am very excited to join the class with or without the scholarship, but do want to make sure that I have all of the information that is available. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to all still applying and on the waitlist

I've done a quick analysis comparing Booth to other top programs. Booth comes in at 2 or 3 regardless of how you cut the numbers.

My list uses the latest data that I could find from Forbes, Business Week, FT (US-only), Economist (US-only), CNN and US News. Feel free to update this thread if you find more up-to-date information. I've also re-run the analysis excluding non-business publications (CNN, USNews), which improves Booth's relative rank. Either way, the top 5 (HBS, Booth, Stanford, CBS, Wharton) don't really change.

Published rankings are obviously variable (they change annually), subject to sampling error (not all schools are ranked by all publications), and methodology biased (publications are not uniform in their ranking criteria). All that said, I think this provides a useful benchmark of the top 5 and top 10 programs in the US right now. And I think it reinforces the importance of "fit" if you've been admitted to more than one top 5 programs.

Just took a quick look. How did you get #4 for Wharton US News (I thought it was tied #3 with MIT). And also I thought Booth was #12 on FT (not #6)? Maybe I'm looking the wrong list somehow?

Thanks for the catch on US News: Indeed they are tied. I've updated the file, but this does not affect the overall rankings. For the FT, note that these are US rankings only: I've excluded the European, Canadian and Asian schools. Chicago's rank among FT US Schools is 6, whilst its overall rank is 11/12.

Thanks again.

Here is some information regarding WL chances put together last year on c/o 2012 data (post by EarlyCareerMBA). Looks like approximately 50% of WL'ers end up getting in.

for those of you interested, here is an interesting read of a weighted index of the rankings from a reliable source.

Thanks for this. The advantage of the P&Q list is that the author gave some thought to composite weightings. The disadvantage is that composite weightings are highly subjective, while an equal weight index (such as mine or any other simple aggregation) is more transparent. In either event, both indices conclude the same thing: Booth is the number 2 or 3 MBA program in the US. In fact, both lists provide remarkably similar rankings for the top 10. For schools outside of the top 10, it may be better to use the Poets & Quants list, because it presumably is normalized for sampling error. Thanks again for this added input!

Waitlisted. I just got the email and checked the status. It says that the final decision will be released at the end of R2 (March 21,2012) Its a long long wait!

Does anyone have any idea that whats % of waitlisted from R1 finally got in in the past two years? Any insights? Thank you so much!

Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!

It was mentioned verbally on the call and was not in the official letter available online. The adcom referenced a follow-up email she would sending and I think she also mentioned a formal acceptance package via mail (though it was a blur of excitement, so maybe I'm mis-remembering).

I was told by the admissions officer when I received the call. I didn't ask - she volunteered the information.

Haha, same thing happened to me! I was so excited, I can barely remember anything she said. I am waiting for the follow up e-mail!

I was accepted yesterday and offered a merit based scholarship. She told me the amount of the scholarship on the phone. When I logged in to the application system it doesn't mention anything about the scholarship, however. I'm guessing we'll get more information later today.
