Dammit I have a noon meeting! NOOO!!! I think I should call in sick...
That seems rash. Move the meeting? excuse yourself? or change your voicemail to give some information like "You've reached xxx, Its march 12th and i'll be in meetings until 1pm and available afterwards"
a missed call would be a great sign
naww skip the meeting and go to the bar (are you around the Pittsburgh area..I'll join you)

I've been useless in the office for the past week so skipping a day wouldn't be terrible
i had heard the decision would come in Friday, so i had asked for the day off. If only i had known it would be Tuesday! This is my last post before the decisions start coming in about 19 hrs from now. I hope the Gods of admissions smiled at all of us, and that we will dance and sing in joy tomorrow.

Ross has a long history of calling a couple days before the date...

Admitted students - Did you guys receive a call from area code 734 or Private Number? Cornell called me from a Private Number. I ask this because I will not be able to take any calls tomorrow as we have to attend a training session from 9-5 PST.

It depends on who calls. I've read that both scenarios have occurred.
I have read that they won't leave you a voicemail if your outgoing message does not identify you by name (e.g. "hi this is bob....). Might be a good idea to switch from the automated message just in case!
last year, I had an automated voice message system, meaning it just said my phone number, and I was left a voicemail by Jon Fuller. It was also promptly followed up with an email.
-8:37 Eastern, three hours to go before the calls start going out? -Called off sick at work yesterday. Went to the city, watched, '21 and over'. Did other crazy stuff for the sudden off day. -Now, 7am CST, still up. -deleted -deleted -Good luck to everyone. Like me, have faith.
*Deleted, the personal stuff. Remember Nyama, brutally honest.
Good luck today, everyone! And as tempting as it is, try not to over-think what it means if you do not hear from the admissions committee today. I received admittance to another school last month where calls began going out on Monday and I didn't receive my call until about 3PM on Wednesday. I was a complete Negative Nancy for 48-hours and felt a little silly about it afterward.
Think positive and I hope everyone gets good news this week!
