5 hours from NYC is a long distance to drive... I think married couple would have enjoyed Ithaca because of its serene location, am I right? Btw, I am interviewing with adcom in two days.

Most R2 deadlines are stuffed in 1st week January. If cornell R2 invites roll in two weeks, it is pretty bad time.
Christmas week is going to be tough !!

...and on another note. now, c'mon, Cornell ain't really a crap hole is it? you're just sayin' that cause you didn't get in... right?

Ithaca's not that bad...

...right?

No, its not. Its a small college town with enough things to be done. Its outdoorsy. I always wonder why people get so worried about this, you will have LOTS to do, you need to study, recruit, there are student led clubs, cornell is one of thr best known universities in the world, so you will have a wide range of university led activities (conferences, etc)

As in all top b-schools, the single largest problem is how to allocate your time with so many things going on. Ithaca is just fine - unless you want to go to museums/broadway/professional sporting event.

Do you think someone who already lived there 5 yrs would go back for 2 more yrs if it indeed was a s*hole? Actions speak louder than words.

where is everyone located in us?

i am from upstate ny, less than one hour of drive to ithaca.

i am just naively hoping that they didn't send me an invitation yet simply because they think i can show up within an hour, lol

I was actually just thinking that about myself too lol.
I'm in NYC -a bus ride away!
i wonder if they r sending out applications in order of locations or preference or the time/ date of when we submitted our application..

I'm in boston. a short... 5 hour car ride(maybe a bit too far to be considered part of this group)

I was an undergrad and grad student at Cornell. Did both my bachelors and masters in mechanical engineering there.

Got a 760 GMAT.

Even hired the former dean of admissions to help me with my essays.

Got interviewed and dinged at Columbia.

But still nothing from cornell!!! This was suppose to be my safety school!!! DAMN IT!!!

I ALREADY SPENT 5 YEARS IN THIS CRAP HOLE AND GAVE THEM MY LIFE SAVINGS!!!

Arhghghghgh

seriously after reading this, I don't feel as bad about not getting an invite. Seems like a TON of overqualified guys still havent received an invite, means we aren't the ones who messed up here.

@ sneakeoner,

wasnt sure if you were joking or not, but if not, some friendly advice.

If you want to get in, I wouldnt go posting this stuff on a public forum. Your GMAT score and undergrad and grad backgrounds make you unique. I am sure if Cornell wants to they can figure out who you are based on that info, and they will ding you for calling it a "crap hole". Not saying the read posts on this forum, but if they do, your post can only hurt you.

There's a good chance they could figure out who the majority of us are...

I mean, especially for people like you and me... how many applicants have taken the gmat 3 times, with your exact breakdowns, and have gone through the CFA process...

How many people have my GPA, my gmat test history and live in MA? Secretly I'm hoping they figure out who I am, and let me in based on my puppy

Yeah, I was kicking myself when I realized what my GMAT breakdown did to me being anonymous. I was all proud of myself and wanted to show people you can improve over time with hard work. Then about 3 months into the app process I was like damn, that was stupid. Never had thought about it before. But whats done is done and no taking it down now.

Just choose your words carefully. Do you think a picture of my hamster will help me get in? Its not a puppy, but still something.

tough call. I hear some of the more quant heavy schools are very accepting of hampster owners, but dont even think about applying to west coast schools...

With only 5 business days left before R1 decisions are announced, barely 15% of the applicants here received interview invites to Johnson even though they are more than qualified. Last year close to 70% of R1 candidates were interviewed

It appears that Johnson's new found fame on the top 10 rankings as well as the new paperless application process they are using got to them.

A combinations of an increased app volume and a new paperless reviewing process caused a delay on interview invites for round 1. Many of us are still waiting as invites continue to trickle out.

I'm assuming they'll be caught up by R3, so nothing to worry about on your end

Thanks guys. Wish I was ready in time for R2, but had to make some changes. I was getting concerned that these delays might be a result of them being more competitive and will end up hurting me. Do they really expect people to come interview last minute this close to decisions? Is it more the increased volume/completion or is it inefficient management (ironic, right?)?
