I am one of them.... Indian citizenship but living in NYC.
Not really sure how they categorize these interview invitations.

anybody from san francisco area who got an off campus interview invite for r2?

Hi there! I'm in Palo Alto, and I just did my alumni interview yesterday. It was about an hour long, fairly standard question, and very conversational.

FROM Kellogg MBA Blog: Student Perspective: Alumni Support

The Kellogg Alumni Network provides support even before graduation day and long after.

When applying to business school, there are so many considerations to evaluate: academics, location, size, career services, etc. One of the most important factors in everything you have to weigh is the alumni network. Long after you’ve taken your last final, the network you both cultivated and inherited will be an enduring legacy of your MBA experience that will last you throughout your career.

For that reason and more, the strength of a school’s alumni network was a major factor in deciding where to get my MBA. Kellogg’s reputation as a highly collaborative school is often cited when referring to one’s current classmates, but I found that it extended to the alumni even long before I was their peer. While researching Kellogg during the application process, I made a point to reach out to alums as well as current students. I looked for those who had similar non-traditional backgrounds as I did, as well as those who were now working in industries that I hoped to enter post-MBA. And the response was incredible! Even though I wasn’t yet a student – I hadn’t even been accepted yet – most everyone I contacted responded right away, happy to talk to me about their experience and provide advice when I needed it. Their insight, enthusiasm, and even nostalgia for their Kellogg experience was palpable and contagious. I remember thinking that if they were willing to be so helpful and forthcoming even before I stepped foot on campus, who knew what kind of a resource they would be after I arrived.

My high expectations didn’t disappoint. Now, as a first-year student in the midst of recruiting season, the alumni network has proven invaluable. When I was recently out west to visit some companies, I reached out to one alum, who was working at a company I was interested in. He immediately agreed to meet me for coffee while I was in town and gave me great insight not only into the company, but also into my career goals and where else I should be focusing my efforts. Even more, he offered to connect me with some of his fellow Kellogg classmates who he thought would be relevant for me to speak with. Within days, I had received three introductory emails and responses from those contacts, and by the end of the week, I ended up spending up to an hour on the phone with each of them. One of these new contacts, who worked at a company I had applied to for an internship, even offered to help me prepare for my interview, should I receive one. Now that is going above and beyond!

The enthusiasm of the network to “pay it forward” extends beyond just cold introductions. Most every company event I’ve been to has featured a Kellogg alum. And today I participated in a mock internship interview hosted by alumni working in marketing, my preferred field. The fact that they take the time out of their busy days to help us practice our interviewing skills and be the best we can be is great evidence of their commitment to the school long after they’ve left the building. It’s an amazing part of my MBA experience, and “passing it on” is a tradition I’m committed to upholding once I’ve graduated, too.

Taipei off-campus interview with alumni on Friday 2/7 (invited on 1/28). Really pleasant conversation which lasted roughly 75 minutes.
Formal interview part lasted about 35 minutes or so.

Questions included:

1) Walk me through your resume
2) Why MBA/Kellogg?
3) Tell me about your most significant accomplishment
4) Do you think you're smart? Why or why not?
5) What do you think makes an effective leader?
6) What will you be able to contribute uniquely to the Kellogg community?

Best luck to all others interviewing!

Mine also says "Submitted", interviewed 4 days ago. I think this is normal. Status won't change until final decision.

I was accepted in round 1, and my status still says submitted. It's only when I click "open application" that I am taken to a page that says a status update for my acceptance. There was never any note about my interview.

Hi,

Since Kellogg is a school that aims to give an interview to the majority of applicants, how can one know if he/she is among the top applicants? As an interview invite by other schools is a good indicator of the increased likelihood of acceptance, are there any ways or methods of measuring my candidancy once I interview? Or would one have to just forget about Kellogg and wait until the decision day?

Also, for schools such as Kellogg, would the interview section count relatively less than other schools? Thanks for anyone who answers :)

There is no way for you to know if you are a top applicant. You will only know on decision day if you are accepted.

The interview counts a lot, which is why Kellogg interviews most people. The school believes in the importance of getting to know each applicant and whether you would fit in with the Kellogg culture.

Anybody in the United States still waiting on an interview invite? I live in Chicago and I have yet to hear anything from Kellogg. I applied on Jan 7th and haven't gotten anything since the email saying they had received my application.

If you live in Chicago, curious as to why you didn't schedule an on-campus interview. It's already past the deadline to schedule one though (Jan 22).

Done with my Interview yesterday, in Bangalore, India... it was more or less conversational type but somehow the conversation was too dull, i didn't find the alumni too enthusiastic or giving any smile. I don't know what went wrong or what was going on his mind..... :( finger crossed!

Chicago-area applicants must request an off-campus interview unless applying to the JD-MBA program. The interview will be waived for Chicago-area applicants who request an on-campus interview. On-campus interviews are reserved for applicants with less direct access to Kellogg.
