Hi Guys,
The first GMAT prep2 I gave after preparation, I scored 710. Since then I am consistently scoring 700+ in all GMAT prep tests (v 1.2, v 1). Some of the high scores can be attributed to few repeat questions. I was getting confident but then I gave MGMAT and I scored just 660. But in MGMAT I noted that:
1. Some of the concepts tested, esp. in Quant, were not tested in any of the 5 GMAT preps I have given
2. Overall difficulty level was pretty high when compared to GMAT prep for both Quant and Verbal
Can any of the experienced people in the forum answer my following queries?
1. Can we take MGMAT to be reflective of real GMAT? In terms of concepts tested and difficulty level of questions?
2. How much is GMAT prep reflective of real GMAT? Is GMAT prep easy and real GMAT is comparatively much tougher?
My GMAT is on 15th May. Although now I don't have much time to adjust but the answers to questions above might do good for my confidence.

1. I think this varies for every person, however, I outperformed my MGMAT practice scores on the real exam. I averaged about 710 on MGMAT practice exams and ended up scoring 760 on the real GMAT.
2. I think most people will agree that GMATPrep practice tests are the closest to the real exam that you will come. What people may disagree on is how close to the actual test it really is. I took the second GMATPrep exam one week before the real exam and scored 760 - the same as my score on the real GMAT. So for me, it was a very good predictor. But again, you can find plenty of people whose real scores were very different from their GMATPrep scores (both higher and lower).

Hi Lokesh, Bdepp took the words right out of my mouth! Right down to the 710 practice score into a 760 test score!
The practice tests are good indicators of how you'll do, but nothing is the GMAT except for the GMAT. Traditionally, your score will either increase or decrease from your practice scores in proportion to how well you handle the stresses of test day. If you sleep badly or are overly nervous, there's a good chance your score goes down from what you expect. If you sleep soundly the night before and eat well, your score will probably be even higher than your usual test score. The GMATPrep practice tests are likely the best approximation you can have, but they'll all be approximations of your actual score. It's unlikely that it'll be 100 points off, though, more likely 0-50 points in either direction.
Stay focused and prepare well and hopefully you'll exceed your best score on test day.
