Did a quick summary on the invite breakdown by industry if anyone's interested. :-D

Total invite number includes users who reported receiving invites but have not updated profiles or left the forum.

I see a lot of consultants - tough competition going into the final "selection/class-crafting" process. Gd lk!

Cool,

I used your analysis with some small small changes and manipulations, and compared it to the current entering class profile. So you could see that even with the small sample, the percentage of consultants is fairly representative. The conclusion is that we cannot assume the competition is tough at any of the industries based on these statistics alone. Good luck!

Did some additional quick back-of-the-envelope estimation for us consultants...

GSB Class of 2016:
Matriculated 410, 20% Consultants --> ~82 consultants enrolled
Assuming 80% yield --> ~102 consultants admitted
Assuming R1/R2/R3 acceptance ratio 60/40/0 --> ~61 consultants admitted R1
Assuming GMATClub ratio of total applicants 1/10 --> ~6 consultants admitted R1 from GMATClub
Assuming offer/intervuew conversation ratio 1/2 --> ~12 consultants interviewed R1 from GMATClub

Business Days since Oct 27 --> 13 (including today)
Total Business Days from Oct 27 to Nov 25 --> 21
Progress: 13/21=62%

Invites issued to consultants since Oct 27 -->8
Total potential invites issued to consultants R1 based on Class of 2016 profile --> 12
Progress: 8/12=66%

We are pretty aligned here - let's expect a least 4 more invites coming in for fellow consultants! :)

I'm with all you other STEM people too!! I was under the impression that the top b schools (HBS, GSB) really only take STEM kids that went into consulting or PE though, but I suppose not based on the fact that two of you got HBS invites and your industries are not consulting/PE/something finance-y. I still feel like it's really competitive for those of us who didn't go that path. If you think in terms of how successful we will be in business, it makes sense since we have not really proved to be as adept as other applicants in business skills (even though I am sure we would all do just fine in the business world). I have not founded a company, patented anything, nor do I work for/with a GSB alum, work at a high profile company, or work at a well-connected start-up... So I figure my objective chances are fairly low, but who knows.

Out of curiosity, what are your stats and what schools are you looking at aside from Anderson, Stanford, and Harvard? I noticed we're both in the "early-interview" bucket for Anderson!

Craziest thing. My phone rang with a video of a giraffe - WITH BRACES - telling me racist jokes that was snapchatted to me by my dead grandmother :( :(.

Has anyone heard of military / public sector / non-profit getting invites yet? Lurkers, I know you're there :)! I am trying to justify my non-invite by pretending that the admissions committee would want to tackle the largest group of applicants and spots from finance, consulting first. Let the biggest pool determine the rest right?

Yep, those are my three. H/S/A. I'd rather keep my stats anonymous, but let's just say they're below the average for any of those schools.

Maintain hope y'all! I just got an interview invite.

Background: American male from the South - reapplicant (dinged with interview in 2012) - now living in the Bay Area - 3 years MBB consulting (including 1 year secondment at a VC fund in Kenya) + 2 years at big tech (Google, Facebook, Apple) - submitted day of deadline

Also want to say that I don't think location or time of submission has anything to do with it. 2 years ago when I interviewed, my roommate and I were the only 2 R1 interviewees in Kenya. We submitted around the same time, but I received an interview on the very first day they were given out and she received an interview on the very last day. I think Derrick Bolton was being honest in this P&Q post (mentioned 2 weeks ago) when he says that each AdCom member is given a stack based off their expertise, and he/she works his/her way through the stack
https://poetsandquants.com/2011/02/02/what-happens-when-you-apply-to-stanford-b-school/

Also -- read through last year's blog around this time. Looks like people have done similar analyses in the past correlating dates interviews were extended with time of submission, industry, geography, etc. and everyone is in the same state of confusion because no real correlation exists. It also looks like a big wave went out in the last week last year, so hold on tight!
