Hi all --- I've been following this blog for a while and it's been super helpful thus far! I officially got an invite yesterday and requested an interview with one of the ambassadors. I sent it yesterday morning but haven't heard back yet. CBS recommends two days before contacting another Ambassador but admitted students have said it took as long as 4 days before they got responses. Should I move on to the next interviewer after 2 days or should I hold out for another day? Any thoughts or comments are much appreciated! (Perhaps I'm just being impatient/nerve-racked!)

Hi Isle101

Congrats on the interview invite.

Just for the benefit of others who are in the process of applying, when did you submit your application? Are the admissions team still tracking at about 2 weeks for interview invites?

Cheers

Yes, 2 weeks appears to still be the trend.

Application submitted 9/1
Interview Request 9/15
I'm interviewing on this Friday 9/19

Oh, and just to follow-up on my comment about the interviewer not responding ... she JUST responded almost 2 days later. So for any potential interviewees going forward, don't be surprised if it takes the 2 full business days for a response from the interviewer.

Good luck all!

I submitted on 8/28 and received my interview invitation exactly two weeks later on 9/11. Reached out to one of the ambassadors on 9/12 and didn't get a response for 1.5 business days, so I sent a follow up email and heard back within one hour. The ambassador was nice and apologized for the delay. A follow up email around the 2 business mark be a good option if you think you will have a good rapport with your first choice. Interviewing on 9/23 now - wish it were earlier but I'm appreciative for receiving an invitation!

Does anyone who knows how to deal with wait list situation?
Thought it will be an offer today morning, but it is wait list. So sad and disappointed about it. :( :(
Don't know which aspect have the problem. I think the interview is really good and pleasant.
Or actually my background is not strong enough?
Anyone has tips or comments on that?

Submitted: 13/8
Invited to interview: 27/8
Interview date: 7/9
Receive the WL: 12/9

Forget to say my background:
Top University in Hong Kong.
Big 4 Audit with 3 years WE
G:740
GPA:3.54

There is nothing wrong with your background. Also, I'd be surprised if you didn't show or pretend to show enough devotion and love to CBS in interview since CBS is probably your dream school given your background (no offense, just mean you are not typical H/S candidate).

CBS interview is usually not a game changer unless you really screw it. I know people who had perfect interview (from interviewer's prospective) and got dinged, as well as people who had below average interview and got in.

I tend to think that interview at CBS is more like a way to postpone decisions for average over represented pool applicants. Because of its rolling admission process, they may want to hold on for a while to see if there are more qualified applicants from same pool. That explains why some people get decision 2 days after interview and some people get decisions 2 weeks after interview. The first group is either with super strong background or in under represented pool. The second group already passes "background check" but may replace by later applicants easily.

Check my previous post in this thread about my theory of over representative pool. It might be that they only admit very few (think 1-2) Chinese big 4 audit candidates. Therefore even you apply early, they put u in waiting list to see if there are better big 4 candidates later.

All above are just my theories. You probably won't be able to do much about it. Better focus on other schools and keep contact with adcom. If you know CBS alumni/student, they may be able to help you by talking to adcom.

I had my interview today - it was anything but casual. It lasted for an hour and left me with a bitter aftertaste. The interviewer showed no sign of any emotions whatsoever and asked me 10-12 questions in total. I hope that the report will be positive.

my interviewer didn't show a whole lot of emotion either. but i got admitted, one business day after my interview report had been submitted.

whether your interview was casual or not is up to the personality/preference of the interviewer. it doesn't mean he/she will turn in a bad report or thinks you ain't a good fit for CBS.

now all the things are out of your control.

so do not overthink it :)

Congratulations DSC21. As AM76N mentioned, it would be helpful (for those of us waiting on pins and needles) to know when your interview feedback was completed. Thanks, congrats, and hope to see you in NYC next fall.

Completely understand....I tried to decipher every timeline for the past 2 years on here and was going crazy! My interview was in the morning and feedback was submitted that same night (12th). I edited my original post to clarify. Wishing you all the best!

May I have your Attention PLEASE!

Calling ALL CBS Admits (Class of 2017),
As I see, there have been some post-admit discussions going on this thread, so just would like to inform the Admitted folks that there is a NEW Thread exclusively for you guys where you can carry out any post-admit discussion as deep as you want :-)

PLEASE Note that this particular thread is for the CBS applicants. Although admitted folks are free to chine in any time to answer any pre-admit questions applicants might have, I'd request admits to refrain from initiating/continuing any further post-admit discussions in this particular thread.

C'mon guys - you've a Brand-NEW thread, so leverage it!

All the best and thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

I interviewed last Tuesday, the interview itself was pretty standard, little deviation from the run of the mill questions you'll find on the ClearAdmit blog. The interviewer was professional and easygoing.

I am a little nervous because he still hasn't submitted the report, despite saying he expected to do so in a couple of days... I know he has a week to do so, so I'll just sit tight until Tuesday.

Best,

I'm a J-Term applicant. I still think a fair share of the class hasn't been admitted yet.

As a general timeline the adcom says they will release their decision within 2 weeks after the feedback is received from the interviewer. Judging from previous posts, some people have heard back in a couple days while other have had to wait almost the full 2 weeks to hear. Hopefully sooner than later for most!

How long did j term applicants have to wait to hear the final decision after the interview?
I had my interview on 09/18 and the report was submitted on 09/19. I know you must wait at least one week but everyone on this forum got a call in 1-2 business days. Can't stop freaking out.
Also, do they call international students too? Or do they just send an e-mail?
