Dinged too....710 gmat, cfa, indian female, lived and worked in London for 6 years with an investment bamnk, not investments banker though was debt lender in leverage finance. worked in 3 countries., including Germany. Did 2 years as a consultant too. Wanted to move in PE. Funnily, when my friends and husband party or relax every Eve after work, I have been studying for cfa last 3 years. This June completed, and then jumped straight to gmat. I don't know what these business schools want. Got a distinction in undergrad in maths and went to London school of economics in a scholarship. I should have gone to london business school when I got the offer in 2012, but refused to go due to personal circumstances.

so disappointed. PE firms don't even call for interview without an MBA.

I have no relationship with the admission so this is just my 2 cents - perhaps they find moving into PE through MBA a bit unnecessary or unrealistic. I work in the PE industry currently. It is not true that nobody will be offered an interview without an MBA. given how small the PE firms generally are (in terms of head count compared with investment banks), they tend to be really selective just because they can. generally PE firms hire either IBD people or people who can source deals in the respective industry and therefore you may find it challenging to get an interview competing with these people given your background is not in IBD and may not offer strong industry connections. After the MBA, people who directly go into PE are typically bankers (pre-mba) or PE people (pre -mba). it will be challenging to take someone with your background immediately post MBA graduation. that being said, a more realistic goal will be to work in IBD after MBA with the intention to move into PE in 3-5 years.

Hello there my dear fellow applicants!

My app page reads “Application Complete Date: 10/08/2014”, and I’ve applied for the FT A-Term RD.

I’ve seen here that some folks who applied around this date (Oct/8) already got their decision on interview invites. I know that they started reviewing RD guys on Nov/17, and that their goal is to review apps within 6 weeks... but should I start worrying?

I think some schools have that 'tiered' interviewer decision process..so if the first adcom likes you, they interview you, if they don't like you, you go to the next adcom, who then makes the same decision (if they decide to interview you, you would just get an interview). That would mean that if youre 'late' that perhaps the first Adcom didn't like you as much...but it could also mean that someone else who applied on the same day as you (oct 8) was assigned to another Adcom who was just a bit more efficient.

That being said, this is all just guesses....and could mean nothing ;P

Mine was very, very much your standard behavioral/situational interview - walk me through your resume, goals, challenges at work, etc. There were of course a number of follow-up questions based on my answers, but not as many as in other interviews. Mine felt like more of an interview than a conversation, but each interviewer has a different style.

You can never be sure! It was probably an inconsistency in my written application, as I got positive feedback from the interview and my recommender (direct supervisor) is very involved with the Columbia GSB. However, they also took 3 other females from my undergrad institution (Top 20 college in the South - not an Ivy) with nearly identical profiles to me during the ED process this year, so they may have been looking for more class diversity?

Sorry to hear this. Although I must say that as an american male in an overrepresented industry as finance applying late at CBS is a long shot. Plus, reading the story about the other girls from your firm then its less of a surprise. On to Booth hopefully.

How do you know that the interviewer has submitted his report? Does that become another check on the Application Checklist where recommendations, transcripts, and GMAT are listed?
