Can I ask everyone this question. If HBS yield rate was 8% for interviews, when it should be 20% for the general pool, then that might not be a good sign for the GMATClub pool.
Right now Sloan is at 1%. But knock-on wood and hope that the HBS yield rate was an anomaly!!

Nahhh... I just think most GC members are too busy to update the status of their applications here.
Is it necessary to send mails such as "News, Highlights and Events from MIT Sloan" while we're in agony???? Can't they filter those who applied in R1??? It is as easy as to apply a VLOOKUP in Excel... lol
do you know if they are re-applicants? What is for sure is that the bulk of the interviews has not been sent (otherwise more people from this forum would have been invited in my opinion). Will see. The wait is killing me.

I don't think they are re-applicants, but I will ask. I don't know for sure, but I gathered from last years' intake thread that MIT released interview invitations in a slow trickle, then a large # went out over two days, then a slow trickle till they sent decision notifications.
Schedule wise, if they plan to conduct all interviews send decisions by 12/17 then they must have already started to interview.
It really makes me wonder why those folks have been invited first. Some special considerations for a unique timeline? Perhaps candidates they feel would be more likely to matriculate elsewhere unless snagged early? Alphabetically gifted names (dang you Aaron Aaronson!)?
No matter why, hearing about those offers has made the waiting that much harder. No matter how many times I tell myself that I shouldn't reasonably expect something until late next week, I'm still checking my email constantly. You know, in case they sent out invites at 0230 Eastern time...
Based on last year's thread, the invite trend was:
Friday Oct 25: first invites Monday-Friday Oct 27- Nov 1: large # of invites sent throughout the week Monday-Thursday Nov 4-7: complete silence Friday Nov 8: some invites Friday Nov 15: some invites and ding/waitlist notifications

I don't think it has anything to do with one's candidacy. My video hasn't been viewed yet, which means that the Adcoms haven't even reviewed my application and therefore it is impossible for them to determine my candidacy.

That's good to know. We are probably right on the cusp of a large # of invites.

maybe you were dinged before they even got to the optional video...
masoy--and that makes me all the more curious. I'm surprised that they offer interviews before reviewing the entire applicant pool.

If your profile is accurate, I really don't think Sloan will ding w/o interview a military officer with a 760 GMAT. Unless you bombed other aspects of your application.
pleezy- I hope you're right, but I don't want take anything for granted. Everyone applying to these schools is extremely qualified and it's always humbling to see who got dinged last time around. That list from HBS this year over on poetsandquants was nuts!

wrong. the admissions committee views the optional video/essay first!
wrong. the admissions committee views the optional video/essay first!
how do you know this for sure?
talking to the admissions representatives at Sloan events.

If the admissions committee does view the essay first, all invites go out by early November, and it takes 4-6 weeks to review an application and your video still hasn't been viewed...I don't know guys, that smells like a ding to me.
