I've read about a lot of people that did (including myself). It was a more creative essay than I wrote for my other apps, though.

Yeah I read that.. was hoping for some more support. Cuz that guy may just be a badass and even an average essay would be enough for him.

haha yea, its hard to glean info from this site sometimes. I did a presentation, focused more on personal stuff and not so much stuff that is already in the rest of the app (resume, work experience, academic info). Guess we'll see what happens!

Yeah I guess its the same for all the essays... whats the point of explaining whats already explained in other parts of application. Yet, I am not confident about even one of the essays I have submitted. :D

What date range we lookin at for interview invites? Wharton e-mailed yesterday about sending them out on Feb. 11 (March 24 final decision). So for a March 26 final decision, shall we expect a mid-Feb. invite?

I feel like I saw February 6th on something. I could be wrong though

Just read on a Booth Insider blog post that initial decisions (invite to interview or deny without interview) will be released by February 4.

I just have quite a few considerable weaknesses in my profile, which will likely not be overlooked by an M7.

If you think you need a little oomph to stand out from the pack I think a presentation is the way to go. It shows that you went out of your way to make something just for Booth. Booth, like Columbia and Kellogg (not sure about MIT) seem to give a little extra credit to those whom they believe would be likely to select them above competing schools; taking the time to do these 'optional' assignments is one way to make that happen.

That being said, if you have poor powerpoint skills or a story that you think is much more compelling on paper than use the method that will come across strongest.

Personally I thought the powerpoint was fun. I didn't do any thing special, maybe 3 serious slides related to goals, fit with Booth and my personal experiences and then one fun slide with pictures and little snippets about myself. I know other people who were accepted and got fancy with pages that looked like recipes from a binder, etc.
