Hi...I have attempted gmat once and am preparing for my second attempt. I gave a few different test and was maintaining a q45v40..but today i gave my first veritas prep and got v31q41. I noticed that i got very jittery during my quant attempt. I am however not able to analyze the sudden drop in my quant scores. any suggestions as to how i can improve.

Our Quant questions are certainly challenging and really make you think. But we do ensure that they are GMAT relevant and can be solved in under 2 mins. Analyse your test to figure out why you missed questions. Were there conceptual gaps? Did you get lost in algebraic solutions? Did you make too many 'silly mistakes'?
As I like to tell my students - a low practice test score is actually a success for you since it gives you more opportunities to identify your weaknesses and subsequently improve them. The aim of a practice test is to help you improve and it plays that role very well when you score less in it. At the end of it all, you will be better prepared for the actual thing.

I took a veritas mock couple of days back, and while i felt i did reasonably well on both Quant as well as Verbal, the score came out as 640 (I took the GMAT Prep mock a few weeks back and scored 730 so 640 was quite disappointing).
On analyzing my performance, i found that i had a decent correct percentage (Quant 73% and Verbal 71%) Importantly, I didnt, in both sections, ever get more than 3 questions wrong in a row, nor did i have to skip questions at the end due to timing.
These are the question numbers i got wrong in each
Q: 3,6,9,10,12,13,14,26,28,35
V: 2,6,8,11,12, 21, 27,29,30,31,35,38
The question I have is - for the quants section, was it a case of a heavy penalty being imposed since i bombed the first 15 questions (seems to be the case)? so getting answers correct towards the end didnt do much for the quant score?
For verbal - getting 5 wrong in the first 20 cant be so bad - especially when it wasnt a chunk of them. Whats stranger is that on an earlier Veritas mock i took, i scored a higher percentile on verbal despite getting 8 out of my first 20 questions wrong and having a lower correct %age throughout the section on that attempt.
