If a subscription for 10 issues of a magazine costs $24.00 and represents a saving of 20 percent of the cover prices, what is the cover price per issue?

(A) $1.98
(B) $2.40
(C) $2.80
(D) $2.86
(E) $3.00

We can create the following equation in which n = full cost for the magazine:

24 = 0.8n

240/8 = n

30 = n

So, the regular cost per issue is 30/10 = $3.00.

Answer: E

Subscription cost per magazine= \(\frac{24}{10}\)= 2.4
Let the cover price per issue= x
0.8x= 2.4

x= \(\frac{2.4}{0.8}\)= 3

So cover price per issue= $3.

Answer: E.

Kudos please if you like my explanation!

The cost of 10 magazines is Rs. 24 which is equal to the cost of 80% of cover magazine.

Let the cost of magazine be "C"
so

24=80/100*C
c=30 i.e. cost of 10 covers, so cost of one cover=30/10=>3

Answer (E)

10x- (0.20)10x=24
10x-2x= 24
8x=24
x=3
Therefore, answer is E in my opinion
