Hello, I would love your feedback on my application. I'm thinking of applying in 2018 or 2019 for MBA, then 2019 or 2020 for MPP.
1) Basic demographic info: 22, Male, Nepal
2) Educational Background: BA (Hons) International Business Management, Top 15 British University,
GPA - 2:1 (3.5~ GPA) (No ranking available due to Uni. policy)
GRE - 326 (QR 164, VR 162, AW 5.5)
3) Work experience: 1 year Editor-in-Chief of a magazine responsible for over 50+ (mostly international) staff. Current.
4 month Consultant for a South East Asian government. Current.
1.5 years experience in local retail company. Previous.
1 month Internship at a top-3 bank in Nepal. Previous.
4) Extracurriculars: Extensive volunteering history over 6 years: earthquake relief efforts, environmental and climate change, habitat welfare and children rights.
Competitive mountain biker and guitarist.
Fluent in 5, intermediate in 4 other languages. Traveled, lived or studied in 20+ countries.
Published a paper in an international journal. Writing a book currently.
5) Long term goals: Strategic Consulting/ Social entrepreneurship in developing countries preferably in South Asia, South East Asia or Pacific Islands.
6) Target Schools:
MBA: HBS, INSEAD, Saïd
MPP/MPA: HKS, Columbia SIPA, LSE, Oxford BSG
My concern is whether I should apply earlier and if there is a possibility for any substantial scholarship and my lack of university extracurricular (although I think my extracurricular outside of uni. offsets this)

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your background with us! For the schools you're targeting, programs at INSEAD and Saïd seem to be the better fit given your international experience and goals of working abroad. HBS will be a stretch given your test scores and limited leadership experience. I think the timeframe of applying in 2018 makes sense for you. I'd recommend spending the time between now and then beefing up your GMAT and allowing yourself to demonstrate your leadership in your role as Editor-in-Chief. You'll also need to think hard about your story - at the moment, I don't see a logical connection between your past and where you want to go. Granted, a forum isn't the place to show this (we get it), but this is an important aspect of your application that needs to be solid for the programs you're going after. Scholarships will be tough for these schools. If this is a limiting factor, I'd consider additional programs such as Ross, UNC, and Texas to your list.

Thanks for the evaluation. You are spot on about the leadership experience and story.
At a glance, my journey doesn't really seem to have a thread lining it to make a great, compelling story. But as we both know, this is not the place for that.
I only have two follow up questions. One, at what score or percentile would I not have to worry about my GRE for HBS, given that I am currently at the 90th percentile for both?
It's not that I can't take the GMAT, it's just that the GRE covers both bases for MBA and MPP programs and thus, seems like the most efficient option for me.
Two, should I be worried about my lack of university extracurricular given my non-university extracurricular?
