Isn't there any other way to solve this ?

For a similar questions Chetanu has provided this(link below) approach. But, it doesn't seem to apply to this question. Please clarify.

Which of the following fractions is closet to 1/2?

A. 17/32
B. 25/52
C. 31/60
D. 38/74
E. 43/88

The absolute value of the difference between each of the fractions in the answer choices and 1/2 is:

A) |17/32 - 16/32| = 1/32

B) |25/52 - 26/52| = 1/52

C) |31/60 - 30/60| = 1/60

D) |38/74 - 37/74| = 1/74

E) |43/88 - 44/88| = 1/88

Since 1/88 is closest to 0, 43/88 is closest to 1/2.

Alternate Solution:

Let’s consider the answer choices. We see that each answer choice is exactly “1/(denominator)” away from 1/2. Thus, the answer choice with the greatest denominator will be closest to 1/2.

Answer: E
