April 2017 Update

A new improvement is being introduced to the system as of today, April 24th.

The moderator group has reviewed Rewards-related activity for the first 3 months of the year and has observed a number of unintended outcomes. As the result, in order to cut down on the number of useless posts observed in forums that started after rewards system introduction, a new requirement has been suggested by a moderator group.

The requirement was put in place today. From now on, users to have a minimum number of Kudos in order to progress through the levels in the GMAT Club Rewards and continue earning points. What this means is that members will not be able to reach a particular level, for example, Gold level without having at least 50 Kudos. If you are in this situation, your point earning will suspend until you are able to earn the sufficient number of kudos. If you are wondering how to improve your Kudos situation, consider posting helpful posts that go beyond chit-chat or simple question replies. Think about what you would give Kudos for and it won't take long until your efforts are rewarded.

The following Kudos requirements have been set in place:

1 Bronze 0 kudos
2 Silver 25 kudos
3 Gold 50 kudos
4 Platinum 100 kudos
5 Diamond 200 kudos

On purchase of Gmat Club Mock Tests, you get 10 points, and if it's a 3-month subscription the points double. When you say purchase do you strictly mean a "monetary purchase" ? In other words, if a member purchases the tests using his/her GC points is that also counted as a purchase?

say I've 100 points.
Will they reset to 0 if I claim the silver status?

and if I've 150 points and I redeem all of them for something worth 150points (in the silver category), will by status be back to bronze?

There are redeemable and level qualifying points - you will see them in your profile. Your level-qualification is independent of your redemptions, so it does not cost you any points to reach the Silver tier. You get upgraded to silver after getting 100th point.

Let say after redeeming 25 kudos, I have my kudos down from 100 to 75...
1) Will I lose my Platinum status and be downgraded to Gold status ? Let say I already have 400 points before redeeming the 25 kudos.

2) will I have to earn 125 kudos (instead of 100 kudos) to achieve Diamond status, on top of point requirement?

Thank you for finding it broall. We have had an update made to the Rewards system. Actually 2:

1. We have introduced a new reward (I will make a separate post about this, this week) - get 5 Kudos for a post within 30 days and get 5 points. This reward is currently not limited, but I would expect we will limit it a certain number of times per post if we see that the reward is not properly motivating user behavior.

2. We have switched the "cool down" period for rewards from being on a 24 hour cycle to being "once-a-day" cycle that resets at 6 AM PST, so from now on, you could make a post at 5 AM and get 1 point and then another post at 7 AM (Pacific US Time) and get 1 more point. But you won't get further points until 6:01 AM the next day.

These two updates were final updates to the rewards system based on the Moderator Meeting a while ago.

Welcome any suggestions/ideas/comments.

Can you please update on the current status for the above 2 points?

1. Is caping of 5 points for 5 kudos per post implemented?

2. As per my experience, reset time is 8.30pm IST during the daylight savings time period of the year and is applicable for all the activities alike i.e. make a post/ GC timer/ create a new topic/ reply to newcomer post/ join GC Chat. On the 'How to Use' page, though different terminologies are used- make 1 post states "only once every 24 hours"; GMAT Club Timer Attempt states "upto 1 point per day"; Reply to a newcomer post does not state that it is also limited once every 24 hours- all act in the same way.

"hope this message does not get lost in the sea of the Rewards Discussion" is so valid here especially for this topic- running into 26 pages! I reviewed all so as not to ask any repeated query, thereby spending more than half a day. I have a strong suggestion if we can add a tab which would contain filtered relevant posts so that no other person like me waste their crucial time. I understand this will take a lot of time of moderators to identify the relevant posts, but will be very beneficial for the community by retrieving only the important posts, thereby saving everyone's time later. This could be implemented at least for important/ popular and long topics such as this one.

Further, I would suggest to mention about Kudos earning requirement under 'Reach tiers by collecting points' field or FAQ field of 'How to Use' section as rightly pointed out that almost half this thread is filled by this query, so why not to clarify on this aspect over there itself.

Also what is the bonus points we get when we earn a badge? for example, when we earn the "engagement badge" after replying to 10 newcomer posts, how many bonus points do we get?

I also have the same query as ENEM - I had activated GMAT Club Tests on 19-Mar-2021 through egmat subscription, however, I did not earn reward point/ badge. None of the discussion in this 26 pager cover on this, though it is discussed multiple times that reward points or kudo redemption won't fetch us the reward points/badge.

Unfortunately, I couldn't even visit the GC Test page ever after activation. But now I am full time studying for GMAT and will definitely access the same this time. So is it possible to reactivate the same without any additional charge/ point redemption on the rationale that I completely missed the same that time?

Further, please let us know whether 50% discount on GC test subscription renewal is applicable if kudos/points redeemed? I mean renewal by just 13 kudos/ half the reward points?
