x is dependent on y and y is unknown hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: y = 2.279

relationship between x and y is unknown to use value of y to calculat evalue of x hence

Combining two statements
x = 3.927y and y = 2.279
i.e. x = 2.927*2.279
SUFFICIENT

How do we know whether y is multiplies or a digit of x?
If y is a digit statement 1 is sufficient.
If y is multiplied than C is the right answer.

I agree on that point.
My doubt is if x=3.927y. So no matter what is the value of y the max rounded value of x=3.93.
The doubt I have is, is y a digit in x or is it being multiplied?

The question clearly defines if the variable represents a digit. Unless it's defined as digit, it is considered a multiplication of values.
