Hi Kiran,
First of all, I hope you understand that your profile is good! It is competitive and noteworthy. Don't beat yourself about this (bcz I did, and does you no good).
Simple and straight answer - Try for other B-schools for sure.
1) There is no harm/ negative in doing so. You might get a scholarship from other school. I got waitlisted at one and a scholarship at second.
2) World wide schools have seen an uptick in the applications due to the Covid19 situation and the recession as a result. So it would easily be 3 times more competitive if not more at most schools.
3) I would be safe, and consider this close to a reject. If it's important you complete your MBA this cycle, please apply to other programs. If you can wait another year, I would suggest re-taking your GMAT and improving the score and then trying again next year. This obviously depends on your personal considerations and current professional status.
The only way (with a really low probability) one can generally get out of the waitlist and be selected is if you improve your GMAT, show a promotion/ an important change in your profile professionally, or display some community leadership. All these 3 ways I understand are going to be hard in the current Covid19 times.
If you know a current student in the University, you can approach them and request for a Recommendation to the adcoms - but be aware, this should be a little detailed one so that the adcoms understand you and know how you have interacted with students.
Some ways to manage waitlist can be noted in previous threads :

I have received a waitlist mail from the University of Edinburgh for the Full-Time MBA programme. In the mail, they mentioned that due heavy quantity of applications they kept it hold and considering for the next round of applications. Does anybody receive similar mail? Is it suggestible to wait for their reply or try with other B-school programmes. I appreciate your suggestions.
