Hi all - I got accepted into both the Harvard and Stanford MBA program. I do have a decent job right now making upwards of ~200k and 4 years out of college. I think one thing I am lacking is a solid network do you think going to Harvard MBA will help me build that and propel me to new heights? How is the MBA program experience different from undergrad?

Hi and welcome to GMAT Club. Usually these questions are to be asked at the beginning of the application. You don't want to be applying to a school you won't attend.... it is just a waste of effort.

In terms of the MBA, it is hard work - you have to be motivated to do it. There is only so much motivation you will have and leaving a cushy job and comfortable setting, may not be the right move to get an MBA which will subject you to sleep deprivation, fear, panic, and insecurity in the process. It is kind of like Navy Seals, is it worth it?

P.S. As to your question, it also depends if you are a US person or International. Are you making $200K in the US or outside of the US?

Completely agree with bb here.
- The value of the network depends on what you wish to use it for. Are you an entrepreneur? Are you lacking progress in a certain direction because you lack insight into it? While networks may find initial opportunities, the first few years out of B-school are going to be driven more on functional oomph.
- Stanford would be pretty much unbeatable when talking about Silicon Valley access, PE/VC networks in the valley, and tech (and other kinds of) entrepreneurship.
- The MBA experience will be a whole different level compared to your undergrad experience, but that too may depend on what you did during undergrad and which country you're from.
