This can be converted into word combinatorics problem. If we carefully see, the man has to travel North(N) or East(E) and he has to do it by travelling 4 times in E and 3 times in N.

One of the combinations can be - NNNEEEE
How many different possible combinations of this word are possible?

Total digits - 7
Repeating digits of N - 3
Repeating digits of E - 4

Total number of different combinations = \(\frac{7!}{3!*4!}\) = \(\frac{7*6*5}{1*2*3}\) = 35

Answer: D
