Hi Everyone!
On Monday I received an offer from Rotman, with an entrance award! I am an Indian applicant, and I have posted my detailed profile in this forum earlier (page 15) for reference.
Due to personal reasons, I haven’t been very active here. However this post sums up my entire experience.
Application submitted:2nd September
Video and Timed Written Essays: 3rd September
Video Questions:
1) What is something you’re good at making.
2) If you could eat anything in this world right now, what would it be?
Timed Written Question:
Draft a mail to a Rotman Adcom member with your questions surrounding the program.
LORS: Both submitted after Early Action Deadline (The status of these remained ’Unreviewed’ till the date of interview)
Invitation to Interview: 9th September
Interview: 20th September
Decision: 27th September
The interview was no different from the debriefs posted on this forum (Grateful to past applicants who shared their experiences!). The Adcom member and I both joined 10 mins early, and the conversation lasted for 45 mins roughly. I had previously spoken with him in detail as a part of the Pre-App Meeting in August.
He asked me the following questions during my interview.
1)Â Walk me through your resume briefly.
2) Why Canada, Toronto and Rotman.
3) Which other Universities have you applied to?
4) What’s your short term goal straight out of Rotman?
5) Tell me about an achievement of yours at work.
6) Detail a time you were frustrated with a colleague, and how did you mitigate the situation or resolve it?
7) Detail a time you failed at work. What lessons did you learn?
8) If you were to meet the Dean of Rotman in 10 mins, what would be 3 questions you’d pose to him. ( Caught me a little off guard, haha)
At the end we spent 10-12 mins discussing my own set of questions for him. He then explained to me that the committee gathers every Tuesday to discuss applicants they’ve interviewed and arrive at a decision.
All in all, the interview was very conversational yet professional. Unfortunately my Internet connectivity was being very moody that day, so 5 minutes into the interview we turned our cameras off.
Also for those wondering about the portal status changes- My status was first ’Submitted’, then turned to ’Invited to Interview’ the day I received the interview email and right after the interview it became ’Under Review’. It’s now been updated to "Decision Made".
Thanks for reading and I hope it’s helpful.
