Hi Rich,

Thank you for your response. I have received a voucher from GMAC for another online attempt. But I am confused. Do you think I should try another attempt online? I however do not want to test online as I am worried of the technical issues. I want to go for the center based test. Do you suppose they will refund me?

My goal is 770.

I scored the following in mocks-

Manhattan free mock - 640
GMAT prep 2 - 740
GMAT prep 3 - 740
GMAT prep 4 - 730

I am planning to apply in R2.

Kindly request guidance on whether I should try another online attempt in a week or should I wait for 3 weeks coz that's when the earliest date for the center based test is available.

If I should go for the center after 3 weeks how should my preparation be to get a 770.

Thank you so much!

If you feel more comfortable taking the test in a test center then I say you go for it. Regarding the refund, have you tried calling the folks at GMAC?

Hi Bhu750

We are so sorry that you had such an experience!
Also, we are glad that you have been provided another test opportunity.
Pls connect with GMAC at the earliest in case you think of taking an offline attempt.
We suggest you to take up an attempt where you "feel" confident and can perform your optimum without external distractions.

If you are trying for the after 3 weeks here are our few pointers on it:

(1)Always keep yourself in a test simulated atmosphere experience. Take mini tests/quizzes/full length og test(we suggest retain 2 at least for a next attempt if needed.)

(2)Since your goal is 770 and your recent mocks are 740,we suggest to touch on Advance questions from the subject area. Use verified resources like OG/QR/VR/Retired old questions.

(3)Create a schedule that contains a break day every week, Break away from Gmat prep for one day completely ! Our system needs time to shut down too so that it can start afresh. We advise all our students to keep a day of break knowing the side effects of a burn out :) .

(4)Commit to the schedule you have created. Make it practical with some buffer days as reserve.

Most importantly, don't let this experience hover on your mind for long.

Your mock score reflects your hard work and soon your real score would also reflect the same!

All the very best. You can get in touch with us for any disclarity.

Thanks

Thank you so much for the advice..
I have already mailed GMAC.. I have decided to go for the center based option..
I will keep taking quizzes or mocks..
Are 3 weeks sufficient to go from a 730 in mocks to 770 in the test?

Thank you Scott.. I have mailed them .. will try calling them ..

I had mailed you regarding this.. TTP has helped a lot in my prep..
But I found the quant section to be far more difficult in this test than in any of the mocks or practice sets.. any suggestions on how to nail these questions on the test..

Hi Bhu750
Good to hear your decision of test taking is freezed.(center based)
Its not the number of days /weeks as the solo factor here. Its all about the right planning and your execution of the plan every single day!!
If you plan it correctly and stick to it diligently,3 weeks with at least 4-5hrs of prep should be good enough.

Hello everyone,

GMAC had issued a refund.. Contrary to most people's experience here, they have been very quick in responding. Within 2 days they have accepted it's a technical error and issued the refund. I will take the test at the center in 3 weeks.

Good luck mate.

I had a curve ball myself. Mocks 1-4 went 710,750,770,750 but I got a 710 in my first attempt.

I gave my second attempt this week, Quant and Verbal was all rosy so far and suddenly the application shut down. Also drained the color off my face lol.

Luckily, the proctor restarted the application in under two minutes, no time on the clock was lost and I ended up with a 770. But that moment, I shudder at the thought of what would have happened if that attempt was a waste.

Also sometimes the margins between a 740 and 770 are extremely small. You can be prepared, but it's the age old cliche about how you perform on that day. Keep grinding.

Thank you VV21.. Congratulations to you!! That's my target score!

Do you mind sending me a message? There are few areas where I need some clarity. My message function does not work.. not sure why.
