For someone with 8-10 years of industry experience, what weightage do you think would interview and acads hold vs the essat/LOR/ interview. Would love to hear what those who got an admit think, based on their own experience!
Hey there. Got an admit with 9 years of work exp, during the initial R2 results rollout. My interview didn’t go "perfectly", as there were moments where I couldn’t give strong enough answers, but there were also moments (why MBA, why ISB) where it went really well (overall 40 mins). I was personally of the opinion that if only the first 20 mins of my interview counted, then I wouldn’t stand a chance. Likewise, if only the last 20 mins counted then I felt I stood a strong chance. All that being said, I also have a strong academic background (GMAT, NIT Btech profile etc) and a strong work experience profile(Tier 2 Consulting + Financial Services). Not much in the way of extra curriculars (barely any at all). Personally for me, I feel my overall acads + work experience, followed by my interview performance for specific questions (why ISB, why MBA, short term/long term goals) might have been the tipping point. Hard to say if any one of these in particular might have been the deciding factor.

To add on to this, I personally believe I had decent/strong essays (worked with S4G), and my manager would have given a strong recommendation as well when filling the form*
