But we have no information about cory.

But we cannot find information about the day of purchase.

- A certain online store sold a number of items over the course of two consecutive days and shipped each item on the day it was sold
- During those two days, every clearance item was shipped with standard shipping
- every item that was shipped with rush shipping was non-clearance
Then it asks us;

The answer option E as we cannot predict YES/NO with the both the statements.
Statement 1: Even though it says Cory purchased with the standard shipping and standard shipping was done on first day , the second day could have also been standard shipping. so insufficient.
Statement 2: Its a clearance item, so they used a standard shipping but still it could have been on the second day as well, so insufficient.

Statement 1 is not sufficient as we have no information whether Cory purchased on the first day. Eliminate A, and D.
(2) The item Cory purchased was a clearance item.
Statement 2 alone is not sufficient because we don't know whether Cory purchased his item on the first day. Eliminate B.

While we know that on the first day only clearance items were sold, and we know that Cory bought a clearance item, we can't say for sure that he purchase on the first day. There could be two possibilities -
a. He purchased his item on the first day
b. He purchased a clearance item on the second day of the sale.
Hence, the statements combined are not sufficient.
