Most schools are indifferent, but occasionally, candidates with strong profiles who otherwise struggle to achieve a high GMAT can gain some leeway with a reasonable GRE score at schools that place high emphasis on GMAT averages.

Hi kotechamadhav,
Most schools don’t differentiate between GRE and GMAT. Evaluate which exam you’re more comfortable with and where you have a better chance of scoring well.

Company 1- Accenture - worked 3 years as a service delivery and quality complaince consultant for a global pharma client (got 1 promotion)

I have a query and any guidance on this will help.

Does IIM A consider applicants who already have an MBA from a tier-2 college along with work experience? More specifically, what are the chances of getting into IIM A with a prior MBA and 6 years of experience in FMCG research and consulting? Additionally with this background, what would be the ideal GMAT score which would kind of help in getting in?

Hi gourab1204167,

You are a strong candidate for the IIMA PGPX and other one-year MBA programs. The only possible exception is the IIMB EPGP, which generally prefers applicants with under 10 years of experience.

Your GMAT (classic) score is already competitive and slightly above the typical average for these programs (around 690), so retaking the GMAT Focus Edition is unlikely to add much value.
Instead, your time would be better spent strengthening your application—particularly by refining your post-MBA goals and clearly connecting them with your past experience. Your background, which combines technology and the pharma sector, is a strong differentiator if positioned well.
