I have a query and any guidance on this will help.

Does IIM A consider applicants who already have an MBA from a tier-2 college along with work experience? More specifically, what are the chances of getting into IIM A with a prior MBA and 6 years of experience in FMCG research and consulting? Additionally with this background, what would be the ideal GMAT score which would kind of help in getting in?
You definitely need an appealing reason to justify the second MBA and also the first MBA

One of the students has joined IIMA after first MBA from fore
She was a reapplicant and converted this year with a bang!!️ 😃

DM for more details

Can you please evaluate my profile and provide some guidance on my chances of getting shortlisted?
Academic Background:
• Class X (CBSE): 8.8 CGPA
• Class XII (CBSE): 91%
• B.Com (Hons), DU SOL: 60%
• Chartered Accountant: 53% (Final)
Professional Experience: 6+ Years
• Articleship (3 years) – Completed from a mid-sized CA firm in Delhi, with core exposure to Audit, Taxation, Accounting, and Finance. (I would also like to understand whether this period is considered as formal work experience for executive programs.)
• Post-Qualification Experience:
1. NatWest Markets (RBS) – Worked for 7 months as a Senior Analyst in Regulatory Reporting (Derivatives), handling trade and transaction reporting.
2. Own CA Practice – Managed and operated my own firm in Delhi for approximately 2 years and 3 months, handling end-to-end client engagements across finance, compliance, and advisory.
3. Current Role – Working as a Credit Manager in Business Banking at one of India’s leading banks for the past 3 months. My role involves credit assessment, financial analysis, and risk evaluation of business profiles.
Test Scores:
• GMAT: Not attempted yet
I am particularly targeting the one-year Executive MBA program at IIM Ahmedabad or Tier 1 B Schools and would value your honest assessment of my profile, along with any suggestions on how I can strengthen my chances.

Here’s a quick, honest take:
Over the years there has been surge in CAs wanting to do 1 year MBA. At IIMA atleast.

You have a solid but not a standout profile for Tier-1 1-year MBA program(unless you construct your narrative) Academics are mixed, but your CA + diverse experience (audit, own practice, and now banking) is a strong combination if positioned well.

Your biggest lever is GMAT. A 680+ makes you competitive. Having said that acads and GMAT aren't the only levers. Your profile, extracurriculars, achievements, etc can also act as lever (provided they have some meat in it)

With strong GMAT + clear story: a convert.

Reachout incase you have any questions.

targeting IIM A PGPX for my second MBA

how does my current profile look and what gmat score should I ideally target?
Strong academics + decent work ex, but second MBA + non-elite brand experience makes it competitive for PGPX. Things in your control are
A. GMAT score
B. Building up and articulating a structured narrative. (Essays, application and interview)

You’ll need to clearly justify why a second MBA and show strong career progression/impact in market research.

GMAT Focus

- Minimum: 685

Current chances: moderate
With 685+ GMAT + strong story: good chance

10 th 10 cgpa
12 th 90%
UG- Delhi University Economics honours - 6.68 cgpa
Diploma in finance _ ISBF/ UOL - first division
Masters in finance - Esade business school ( international exposure)-8.5 cgpa
CFA 2 passed
5 yrs work experience in IB from big 4 India

GRE 333- (167;166)

How is this profile for pgpx IIMA ?
This is a strong profile for PGPX. Great academics, international exposure from , solid IB experience, and GRE 333 (already top-tier).

Only concern is “why another MBA/PGPX after a Master’s in Finance”. this needs a very clear story.

Current chances: good
With strong essays + clear career progression: very good (high shortlist chances)

Focus on positioning and narrative

Yes agree
Essay and story are important
Do they need any ECA/ volunteer work ?
You have a very good profile. A kind that professors would be interested to have you in class.

However, what's more important is what are you seeking ? What do you want post MBA?

Why do you want to shell out so much money ? You already have masters in finance.

Feel free to connect
