1. Academics are average, so GMAT becomes critical Target GMAT: 675+ for India programs
2. 9 years in Credit Risk is a strong plus. You need to clearly show leadership and career progression
3. Strong “Why MBA, why now” is very important at this experience level
4. Be prepared for why second MBA and also reason for an online MBA.
Understood. Thank You !!

Need profile review for Class of 28 (GNEM)

Will complete 4 years 8 months of work experience by March 2027

Worked in private equity support for 1.5 years
Working as an Investment Analyst at a boutique investment firm covering US & Indian equities and supporting portfolio management for UHNI clients for the last 2 years

Have also mentored underprivileged school students of Uttarakhand to help them set career goals

Acads:
CBSE 12th: 78%
NMIMS BSc Finance: CGPA 2.7 /4
GMAT: 645

Should I improve my GMAT, or is this score okay to get an interview call at IIMA? What else can I do to improve my chances of conversion?
1. Try for GMAT 675+ , you will need that extra edge given avg acads so far
2. Your background will make your interview interesting. So be generally aware of valuations
3. CFA will be a value add if you want to stick to finanace
4. Overall with good GMAT score , well structured application/essays and a solid interview is what you will need.

UG- BA Hons in Humanties and Social Science (Journalism) from Delhi University. 60% overall
PG- MBA in Communication Management from SIMC Pune. 5.38 CGPA out of 10
Work experience- 5.5 years in advertising and marketing.
GRE score- 298 (planning to re take in July)

Planning to apply in R1 2026.
Please understand that IIM A’s PGP program is looking for people with strong leadership potential. There is a reason they have a minimum threshold for work experience that is higher than most MBA programs. Therefore, in your application and interview, focus on your career growth progression as well as leadership potential.
I think that when you apply, you will only be borderline eligible, so you will be among the younger applicants for the program. The average experience tends to be around 7 years. You need to have an edge to beat the competition, be it your test scores or career achievements.
In a purely technical role, you may have had few opportunities to lead teams or initiatives. Try to spend more time planning how you could best portray your contributions to the business through your work and initiatives. Give more weight to speaking about your growth rather than internships and school achievements. The more you practice doing this, the better you will become at it.
Best wishes

Profile Review please: Acads: 88/88/83. B.Tech Gold Medalist : Marine Engineering and Research Institute of India. Work EX: 6 months in KAWASAKI tokyo , 2.5 years in Indian Bank as Assistant Manager and since the last 2.5 years serving as Auditor in Ministry of Defence. GRE 322. converted LKI XLRI JBIMS this year. was not able to apply to A B bcz i gave my GRE post its deadlines. So willing to drop and apply to A B in R-1. What are the chances and what else should i do in these 4-5 months to imporve anything that is lacking in my profile.
What do you want to achieve after an MBA? How does that connect with the career arc so far (KAWASAKI-> Bank Manager-> Audit in Defence)? You will need to have a compelling reasoning to justify your ask for an MBA if A and B are on your mind. GRE could be better but it is not a deal breaker if your work profile is solid.

Your academics (5.38/10) could be a concern. You may get some diversity advantage given your journalism background, but you’ll need a strong GRE score (325+) to offset the academic profile.
Also, your post-MBA goals and motivation need more clarity—they come across as quite generic right now.

Feel free to reach out if you need more details.

Hi,
Your academics and work experience are solid. However, with ~44 months of experience, you’ll be on the lower side compared to the cohort, so it’s important to showcase strong leadership potential and initiatives you’ve taken at work.
Also, your post-MBA goals need clearer articulation. Aim for a 325+ GRE to stay competitive.

Feel free to reach out if you need more details.

All the Best!
