I would put this question in the naughty list, for how much of my time it consumed

But either way, in retrospect a few tricks could've helped me quicken the base. I'll try my best to mention those here.
---
So, Nexus has 1,000 users; Echo has 1,600 on Jan 1.
On May 1, however, Nexus's user base grew to 250% more than Echo.
Straight off the bat, this means a 3.5x gain, which is easy to miss when directly converting percentage increases.
This also means that Nexus grew a lot faster than Echo in the 4 MONTHS between Jan 1 and May 1. Again, let's be clear here: Jan 1 to Feb 1 is a month passed, to March 1 is two, April is three, and May 1 is fourth. Another bait for miscalculation, avoided by being observant.
Now, among the options, I would like to first see how the lowest values go; this will help set an estimate for the answer. I'd take 200 gained for Echo, which in four months is a gain of 800, or 1,600 + 800 = 2,400.
Now, 3.5x this number is 8,400, which is what we need Nexus to be for the value to hold true. Things started at 1,000 - which means a gain of 7,400. For the monthly gain, which the question is asking about, will be 7,400 / 4 = 1,850. Not quite there in the answers, isn't it?
We at least know that Nexus will be either 2,100 or 3,600. I'd go the other end of the spectrum to further narrow things down, and this time I might want to calculate Nexus first.
Taking 3,600 first;
3,600*4 = 14,400, or 15,400 included the 1,000 things started off as, would be the value this would result in.
Now, 15,400 is 3.5x of what number? That's 15,400 / 3.5 or 4,400. What's the difference between 4,400 and 1,600 - which is what Echo was on January 1 - that is 2,800. So a gain of 2,800 over 4 months or a monthly gain of 700.
We see that somewhere in the answer don't we? 700.
So 3,600 for Nexus and 700 for Echo are the answers.
Hopefully I can be a bit quicker with a question like this in the actual exam!

On January 1 of 2025, Website Nexus had 1,000 registered users, and Website Echo had 1,600 registered users. Each site gained a constant number of new users every month, and by May 1, 2025, Website Nexus had 250% more registered users than Website Echo.
In the table, select for
Nexus the number of registered users it gained per month and select for Echo the number of registered users it gained per month that would be jointly consistent with the given information. Make only two selections, one in each column.
