Hi Alex!
Would appreciate your advice on my profile and help with safe/stretch schools.
Key Stats:
- 28 y/o caucasion American female...from very small town in rural Kentucky
- 3.67 GPA from local University (no real natl recognition), Magna Cum Laude. Rec'd A's in Financial and Managerial Accounting as well as Micro, Macro, and Econ Stats
- GMAT 720 (47Q, 42V)
Work Experience:
- 1 year at Fortune 500 Retail Corporation as Import Replenishment Coordinator - Responsible for replenishment of import items
- 5 years at privately held brand name apparel company. Current position is Customer Business Manager on the sales team. My account/customer is the #1 retailer in the world. I started out as a Sales Support Specialist and have had 3 promotions in 5 years. I started out doing all of the sales analysis and reporting as well as sales/inventory budgeting for our customer. With this last promotion I manage the overall account of $130M at retail and will have an analyst reporting to me (as soon as we can get them hired). I'm hoping my leadership experience can also include managing the different aspects and people involved with the account not just direct reports.
Extra-Curriculars:
- In school, active in business fraternity. Held VP role in charge of member recruitment and training. We increased new recruits by 60% that year. Also, very active with local underprivliged school.
- Outside of school, helped with my business fraternity in an alumni advisory role for the first couple of years, also I have gone back frequently to talk to graduating Management classes. My job takes up much of my time so it's hard to commit to much post graduation.
At this point I would like to move to the next level in my career. I really would like to get out of sales, potentially moving into something like brand managment.
Right now my stretch school is UCLA. I am also interested in USC, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, and Emory. What are the odds I could get into a school like UCLA? Also, can any of these schools be considered safe for me or do I need to go further down the list?
Thanks so much for your help!
