Hello to all this year Oxbridge applicants! Even though Oxford has not finalised the decisions for R4, the stages for 2010 admissions are already up. They seem to eliminate R4 and also moved the deadlines almost a month earlier – interesting. Cambridge have not changed their major admission schedule - they will have five rounds this year as well - but there is mentioning of introducing an online application system (similar to the Oxford one, I guess). Also, note that Cambridge did not give the deadlines for interview decisions - only the dates of the interview events. Good luck! I got an email from SBS with dispatch details of the application packet, though I am yet to receive the same. Has any R2 admit received theirs yet?

Also, I haven't seen any forums addressing career prospects after SBS. I read a few blogs and they were somewhat vague - not sure how much help the career services office provides and how much is personal networking. Has anyone heard anything about the 2009 placement stats?

I have 5 years workex in retail banking and want to change my sector after MBA - to IB or MC. How does SBS fare for such goals?

Hello all, haven't heard any thoughts on the career prospects at SBS. Has anyone done some research on this before deciding to pay the deposit? appreciate any comments. thanks,

Hello all, I have another question: what are the internship options at Oxford? I read about the SCP, but is the project offered by Consulting firms with an opportunity for a pre-placement offer? Or is it just a consulting project, but at different companies?

By design, it’s just a consulting project which could be performed at a range of companies – recruitment is not the primary purpose. I’ve heard anecdotal evidence about the potential for relationships built on the SCP to lead to job offers, but I suspect this doesn’t happen often. If you wanted a standard internship with a consulting firm, this would be in place of the SCP.

Regarding placement stats, here's a quotation from the Times:

Still awaiting a message from JBS regarding my reservation fee. Bank transfer and it's been 6 working days which should be the max time required... argh. Hope it will clear through soon.

I took a look at the Cambridge offer Facebook site and it's mighty interesting to read about people's backgrounds: a pilot in training, people from both Indian and L.A. film industry, a near-East peace negotiator, people from my kind of background (pharma/bio-tech), and most visibly, it seems like everybody's either lived abroad in the past or is currently an expat somewhere on the globe.

I'm located in the southwest and I received my package yesterday. So, I'm guessing you'll be getting yours soon too. They were posted on March 22nd (according to the admissions office). I haven't yet paid my deposit - will do that soon. My first choice will be Green-Templeton.

Same here. Haven't submitted. So, are niraja, alpha and myself the only R3 applicants on this forum? I am scared that we might be facing an uphill battle.

I have a friend who applied in R3 last year and he felt like there was plenty of space. In fact, in his opinion, the third round is not necessarily a difficult round to get admitted b/c additional space opens up due to ppl not accepting the R1 or R2 offer. Granted, he was also an olympic rower AND rowed for Oxford during his time there. But there is hope!

I'm actually feeling good about the exchange rate - it wasn't too long ago that 5,000 GBP was $10,000.
