Fingers crossed for next week. :?

Hi Ginetta,
I originally posted this question for DesiGirl but i'm not sure she's going to Tuck. Out of curiosity, I've heard alot about background checks- what do they entail? Did Tuck do one for you?

I have not heard anything about one, but I havent gotten the post-enrollment materials so maybe it comes later on.

ASW was freaking amazing btw.

Hi guys, for those who have paid the deposit, did you receive any confirmation message via email or mail? Thanks!

I received a confirmation via email a couple days after I paid my deposit.

Thank you hokiegenius. I still have not received a confirmation email. What kind of information does your confirmation email contain?

The confirmation email was generic from the admissions office. I then got a personal email from an admissions staff member asking me to send my official gmat and transcripts. I'm not sure if they did any other "background checking" (this should be moot, right - assuming you provided accurate information? :-D ), but within a week I got an email from the same person letting me know my enrollment requirements are now "complete." Hope this helps! And yep, ASW was amazing!

Hi All,

It's been a long time I did not post on this thread as I was hesitating about where to enroll...I finally decided not to attend Tuck so I made a seat available by declining the offer this morning, I hope it will make one of you happy (WL or last round!).

All the best to all of you!

Hi RF,
Thanks for the tip. I got a response from the office saying that a visit in early May is feasible. Considering that the first week of May is not the best timeframe to travel (as it is a major holiday week here), the earliest time I can make will be the second week of May.

Would you be able to tell me when the semester ends? I'm guessing that all classes end around May 15th?

Thanks!

My last class is the 19th, then exams the next week.

RF

Thanks, RF! Good luck with your exams (though they are due in one month).

I'm likely to be headed to Hanover on the second week of May. Exciting! One more practical question came to my mind: where do school visitors usually stay? Given my total unfamiliarity with the area, I'd prefer an accommodation very near to the school (if there is one). Would you be able to let me know some options?

Thanks again.

Hanover Inn is the most expensive, but also the best place to stay. Its practically on campus.

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Lebanon for both my interview and ASW. There is a shuttle to campus that only takes a few minutes. Not sure what the price difference is, but its definitely a good place to stay if Hanover Inn is too expensive.

Hi all

I applied to Tuck in the January round and was placed on the WL. A few days back, I got an email from Tuck inviting me for lunch in mid May (Friday) and was given the following schedule.

10:30 AM Arrive at Tuck
11:00- 12:00 Mock Class Visit with Professor of Communications Paul Argenti
12:00 -1:30 Lunch with students and Alumni Panel
1:40 PM - 3:00 GMAT Test Taking with Akil Bello
3:15-4:30 PM Rock your Application with Tuck Admissions

The schedule makes me think the visit is meant for first-time visitors rather than for WL candidates. I already visited Tuck twice. Did anyone else get this email? Should I contact Tuck to get a clarification?

Hi.. mbahopeful. I am on W/L too but no such communication. Probably because i am an international applicant?

Is it because you have been W/L without being interviewed?

Almostfamous,

This is a great suggestion. The Hanover Inn is EXPENSIVE ($200+/night). There are also a few hotels in White River Junction (10 min south on I-91) that are much more affordable. Not sure if they have a shuttle though.

I would just look up places on tripadvisor in either Lebanon or WRJ and see what works for you!

That email was a mix-up by admissions. I got an email inviting me to a similar event AFTER I had accepted Tuck.

Shoot them an email back and explain that you're on the waitlist.

Hi,

As a future application (class of 2013), I am not on the waitlist but just curious to know what the "GMAT Test Taking with Aki Bello" refers to? Is it a real GMAT?

Thanks.

Excellent. This is an enormous help to narrow down my accommodation options. Thanks for the great tips, everyone!

Akil Bello is a GMAT prep consultant at Bellcurves (https://www.bellcurves.com/). It think that it is just some general tips about GMAT taking.

Sure....F/WE 6 yrs (Consulting - Tech and Management)/Gmat 760/UG GPA n/a 67%

Hi DesiGirl,
this is going back awhile, but i've read about background checks. Did Tuck do one for you? Does Tuck do them for everyone? What is all the fuss about?

Hi there, I don't believe they did a background check, but then I have been waitlisted. They may be doing BC's for admitted students..
Anyone see any movement on the waitlist from Jan round?
