DOWNLOAD: Work rate problems & answers document

Question

Hello everyone

After solving all the problems in the thread below
collection-of-work-rate-problems-77092-60.html

and checking them with solution provided by other members of the forum I have put all the questions and answers together in a word document. My main contribution are the RTW tables which I set up for almost all problems as I find it a very convenient way of organizing the data.
I would like to thank to h2polo, snipertrader and Ian Stewart (there are some words of widsom of gim in the document) and everybody else who contributed to that thread.

So sorry its taken this long, I simply forgot about this thread. If it still helps:

(40/(x-4))+(40/x) = (50/6) => (40x + 40x - 160)*6 = 50x(x-4)

=> 5x^2 - 68x + 96 = 0

if you get the roots out with the formula x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2-4*a*c)/2*a one of the roots will be 12

there are a lot of ugly numbers. An easy approach must be. 
For this case of problems, maybe we can plug in numbers with the answer and see what happens
what do you think?

of course, you could plug in the answer choices in this equation : (40/(x-4))+(40/x) = (50/6) I think it may be easier/faster even if you would have to go through all answer choices. Great idea
