I applied to Haas and Darden through the Consortium R2 and I haven't received any e-mails from them acknowledging receipt of my application. Anyone out there apply to these schools R2 as well?

Uzzy12, I applied R1 to Darden. Even though I applied by 11/15, I didn't get an email from them until 12/14 acknowledging receipt of my app. This might be an indication of how things will go for R2, especially since they receive a greater volume of apps R2.

True, but as I stated in my post, if you're already applying to a Consortium member school, why wouldn't you want to apply through the Consortium?

I'm not applying until this Fall, but I have serious doubts about applying to Yale through the Consortium. Looking at last year's Consortium admit thread the results are 2 admits, 11 confirmed dings. Compare that to the Yale 2010 thread where R1 saw 17 out of 32 admitted.

Although these are small samples, the numbers are scary. I'd rather take my chances in R1 for Yale.

I would make sure to bring this up to the school when doing your research. There's a reason they urge eligible applicants to apply through consortium. While I have my hunches as to why this may be, I say just make sure to follow up with your concerns with the school.

PM me though...

In those same two years the number of minority students at Yale decreased. The underrepresented minority students went from 12% to 7%. So, maybe they get most of the students from Consortium apps.

Recently discovered this thread and am thrilled to join this community. I appreciate the willingness of people to share information and support each other as we go through this process.

I was a Round 1 Consortium applicant, applying to Haas, Ross, Tuck, SOM, Anderson, and Stern. For me, the ranking step was agonizing me since (1) it was difficult to even select only six programs from the member schools, (2) the programs that I selected offer so many unique strengths and opportunities and I am--after putting in hours upon hours of research and outreach--genuinely excited about all six. It would be an honor to attend any of the six and it concerns me that my "bottom half" of the ranked schools might be insulted by a "low" ranking.

My candidacy falls into the realm of “nontraditional” student. I have spent the last decade in both the public sector (working on Capitol Hill) and on the policy side of the energy industry. Additionally, given my decade of work experience, I am on the older side of the applicant pool—fingers crossed that both my work experience and life experience appeals to the aforementioned program ;)

Looking forward to exchanging ideas and moving forward together in the process! Best wishes to all.

Welcome, DC:

I am also in my 30s, and have worked really hard to overcome the earlier part of my career working with INGOs, so I understand. The ranking was a concern for me also, and if you review this and last year's forums in their entirety, I think you'll find that the ranking is one of the more angst-ridden aspects of this process. I was dinged today from the program I ranked 4/4--Stern. I applied rd. 1

Shewhomustnotbenamed, how were you notified about Stern? I've been waiting to hear back from them and nothing. I know a few people who've already heard back. Did you interview? Thanks so much!

It was fairly unceremonious. I received an email on my BB from Stern today letting me know that my status had changed. Clicked the link to find a denial of admission. First correspondence from Stern since initial email 11/19.

"Interview selection process: I am frequently asked what the criteria are for selecting applicants to invite for interviews. There’s no formula or “profile” we’re looking for. We review each application before extending an invitation. The primary basis for the invitation is simple – we think an applicant has some interesting experiences and we’d like to know more."

So I was reading this from the Ross blog and if I don't get an interview invite I will be extremely mad. I am not biased of course but I do have an interesting profile:)

I received this email:

Consortium
It is not too late to submit your application for consideration this year! To ensure that your application is considered for Fall 2011 admission, submit your application today. The application will close on February 1. Time is running out!

If you have questions about the application process, please contact The Consortium Recruiting Team at (314) 877-5500 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

The Consortium Recruiting Team

No, the deadline has not changed. Since there has been so much confusion about the original message, an updated version with clearer information is being distributed this afternoon to those affected.

Rebecca Dockery | Recruiting Manager
The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management

So I guess the deadline of 1/5 was not extended?

I guess not but as the web site says they will accept late applications.

Looking at last year's thread it seems like some people got interview invites a couple of weeks after the R2 deadline. 2 weeks today for Consortium folks. Maybe some of you will hear soon.

How swell would that be? I hope you're not playing with my emotions. :)
