Fair enough. For full disclosure, at the moment I submitted that message I wasn't invited for an interview. As of now I am, so maybe relaxing does help :)

I submitted a week before deadline and my recommender did maybe 2-3 days before deadline. So add me to roll call please.

I think that is just more proof that the review of applications is completely random. Some people were invited to interviews that applied after you. But anyway, congrats!

Yes that's what I've said I heard. It's literally a technology thing, they don't sort the applications that's all...

Nice, congrats! My gmat score report changed from "Awaiting" to "Received" today, so I'm hoping that means that my applications has been assembled for review.

I'm going to try your technique now, and go have a pint and relax

A question to the current Yale students:
After the interview is conducted, how long does it take the decisions to be released? Do we all need to wait until the December decision date?

From what I remember last year, you have to wait until the decision date.

As much as I'd like to find out as soon as possible, I don't mind their approach. I think it causes the least anxiety as (after the interview) there's no reason to check your status obsessively.

CyberC1 is right about what happened last year. (a lot of people complained in this forum)

But in the previous year when I applied, we got decisions before the notification date. I think last year, they had more volume than they expected and also, they pushed up R1 deadline (compared to previous year).

So who knows what will happen this year.

Well it's a fair approach in some ways. They get to review the entire applicant pool prior to decision making. At the same time, like you said, it's better psychologically to wait until a specific date comes around than checking email all the time. But the downside is that one has to continue to write up second round applications when it may not be necessary to do so if a positive decision can be released early.

I wouldn't worry about people submitting after you and getting invites already. I submitted on 10/3 and my application status state ther are still awaiting my GMAT. Which i had sent in July when i took the GMAT. So I submitted four days before the deadline and they haven't even matched my official GMAT report with my application.
So who knows how they are looking through the applications, but it's definetely not by submittal date.

Hey brainhurt any news since your green tick appeared? I am worried that my last green tick appeared on the 10th and nothing since, but all i can do is wait.

Nope, nothing yet, but it's only been 2 days for me. Let's hope it's soon!

It took 1.5 weeks after all my ticks were green to get the interview notice. They're related in that you need to have all your ticks before an invite, but having all the ticks doesn't mean they reviewed your application. It just means that they assembled it together, probably printed it out, and put in in a queue.
